Thanks Bea. I think I was not careful enough and just took the first cover that showed up. I will be more careful in the future.

Thanks to both of you! I will be finishing the book tonight anyway.

Sorry, I think I was not clear in my question. I am reading a book right now, Damaged which has trees on the cover. I listed it as a book for January clue #1 in the January thread post number 48, but no one has updated the list yet. I'm trying to decide whether to put it aside before I finish it until the lists for January are updated, or whether the fact that it is in the thread already is sufficient.

I take it from your post that if I finish it before either Susan or Bea updates the list I can't count it. Even though it has been in the thread for over a day.

8565 I have another question.

What if we list a book here for one of the clues, but finish reading it before it gets added to the list. Can we still count it as a "listed" book?

8565 FYI

Pride and Prejudice is now owned by Charity. However, Catcher in the Rye is still frozen so please requests books for that spot here.

Thanks Charity, I made the changes to all links but the board. Tien will take care of that.

I own that book, but have never read it. Let me know what you think when you finish!

Tien wrote: "um, I think there's a bit of a mix-up... Didn't you read Romeo & Juliet for P&P? Have you finished Freakanomics as well for Catcher in the Rye?"

You are correct, according to her review post #83 her request thread should be for Pride and Prejudice, not Catcher in the Rye. I should have caught that, dang.....No wonder you couldn't find the thread to link....

Charity, can you make the change to the title of your thread so that we can re-link it correctly?

Thanks

8565 Another question - there is a tree called an ASH. If the book title has the word ash or ashes, but refers to a fire, not a plant, is it still useable?

8565 Chain 2
Extreme Level all books on list
Title Option

Books listed:

1. Poisonwood Bible
2. No Place Like Home
Jan 08, 2016 01:47PM

8565 Chain 1
Moderate Level
Title Option

Books listed:

1. Damaged
Jan 08, 2016 01:47PM

8565 The Chain
1. Participants read any listed books and depending on preferred participation level (see below) to create a (book)Chain

2. Chain can be made by reading books with:

a. Title Option: identical initial letter of word in title/subtitle (excluding A, An, The)
For Example;
The Poisonwood Bible
The Water Babies
The Vicar of Wakefield
Popular: Vintage Wisdom for a Modern Geek
...

b. Author Option: identical initial letter of author's name (to alternate between first and last)
For example;
The Unremembered by Peter Orullian
Wild Wood by Posie Graeme-Evans
Eat, Pray, Love by Elizabeth Gilbert
Room by Emma Donoghue
...

3. Participation Levels

a. LOW ~NO Book-Chain:
2 pts for each book read that are listed*

b. MODERATE ~Book-Chain allows Non-listed books:
1 pt for each book read that are NOT listed BUT part of your Book-Chain
2 pts for each book read that are listed*
25 pts for each Book-Chain completed that consist of 6-12 books
50 pts for each Book-Chain completed that consist of 13-24 books
75 pts for each Book-Chain completed that consists of 25-36 books
100 s for each Book-Chain completed that consists of more than 36 books

c. EXTREME ~Book-Chain made up of ONLY listed books:
2 pts for each book read that are listed*
50 pts for each Book-Chain completed that consist of 6-12 books
100 pts for each Book-Chain completed that consist of 13-24 books
150 pts for each Book-Chain completed that consists of 25-36 books
200 pts for each Book-Chain completed that consists of more than 36 books

*To claim 'listed book' points, book must already be on the list at time of you've finished reading it.

4. You can create more than 1 Book-Chain at a time and at different levels. That is, you can do:
1 or more Moderate Level Book-Chain/s
1 or more Extreme Level Book-Chain/s
you can even do a Low Level reading
BUT a read book can only be claimed ONCE

Note that you will need to be very clear on which band you're reporting on. I'd suggest 'naming' your Book-Chain in your planning thread so I know what I'm looking at when I check out your thread

5. Plan ahead as much as you like as books do NOT have to be read in order but Chain must be very clear when claiming completion points.

8565 OK, so -- I agree with others, I think I am going to have to think about this one quite a bit. I might do the chain part just for fun, not for points as I know I have no hope of being anywhere near the top of the points board. It will be fun, though, to see how many points I can get, though.

SO -- question number 1 - if Poisonwood Bible is on January's shelf and I read it later in the year, I can still count it, right?
