I really think that I am going to enjoy this book. Guess I am beginning to get over my Big Book INTIMIDATION as I am looking forward to getting into it.

I'd be glad for company, if you decide to read it, Lusie.

8565 I have posted a reading schedule in message #3 based on the library book I received. It looks do-able to me with ~ 30 or less pages per day. If the book is interesting, it might even be able to be read before the end of the month.

8565 So...finally! The Pillars of the Earth has arrived! I will be picking the book up on Monday.

Stacey, Lagullande...are either of you ready to join me in reading this book?

8565 I read...well, listened...to The Late Show. I think I would have enjoyed this book even more, if I had read it. Although i gave it 4* on GR, it was only about 3.5* for me. I could not keep my attention focused enough to remember the secondary characters well.

In this book, the late show is the night shift for the police. The setting for the book is the Hollywood division. None of the story had anything to do with theater, movies or any of the entertainment industry unless you count the small part a pornographic producer played in the overall story.

I recommend noir

8565 Yippee! The future is looking better. Both of the library systems I use ~ Aiken Regional Library System and Augusta-Richmond County Library System ~ are offering curb service! I can now return library books to both...and both are allowing patrons to put books on hold and then pick-up. Aiken allows us to drive-up and call when we are there...and they bring the books on hold out to our car. The Augusta library is making appointments.

Sadly, no donations are accepted...so my own books that have been read are still hanging around my house. :(

8565 I also have read a lot of page 1, but I am looking forward to the future now. I think it will move in an exciting direction, and I want to be there.

I have started the IN DEATH series and so may read the next one - Ceremony in Death or I may finally get around to the Lunar Chronicles with Cinder

8565 Although this book is on my Friends Recommend list, after reading the comments here, I am thinking I will not pursue it.
