80482 I'm late to start. I'm starting the 1981 DAW edition of Imaro today.
Maybe I'll read all three before the group read ends.

80482 Point clearly made, and here I thought I wanted to read this.

80482 Wow! Is it that bad?

80482 I've read somewhere that Charles Saunders changed some things in the newer reprints. Namely a war that had similarities to a conflict in Africa. Sorry I don't remember the details, but it is interesting that folks reading the old DAW editions will have slightly different material than someone reading an e-book. If I can get around to it I'll be reading the DAW editions.

80482 Welcome aboard Wes! This is the place to be if you want your TBR pile to grow.

80482 I just stumbles across these two: The Avon Fantasy Reader, The 2nd Avon Fantasy Reader.
80482 Cool. I've yet to pick any of these up. They look really interesting and everyone raves about them.

80482 Joe Abercrombie has Sharp Ends out now. Not sure if this fits the criteria either. Another one I really enjoyed was Swords & Dark Magic: The New Sword and Sorcery, it contains several great newer authors. My absolute favorite from this collection is A Rich Full Week by K.J. Parker. Followed closely by Goats of Glory by Steven Erikson.

80482 I just picked up Jewel of Tharn, book three in the Richard Blade series by Jeffrey Lord.
80482 Lol, I don't know how I missed your first comment in the thread. It's all so much clearer now. *facepalm*
80482 Such a clever way to get info for the group read S.E.! I cannot believe I didn't see it coming. Bravo, sir!

Every single time I begin a book I have this problem. This has become more of a problem since I've joined Goodreads. Seeing what others are reading exasperates this issue. Usually I'll be reading several books at one time because my attention will wander. I also 'suffer' from an enormous TBR pile. My poor wife cannot understand why I have so many books that I havent read. It really drives her crazy that I keep acquiring more books. I built a bookcase in our den that is approx. 12 ft long and 8 ft tall to house my hoard. They are double and triple stacked. Lemony Snicket put it best, " It is likely I will die next to a pile of things I was meaning to read."
80482 I've read Heather Gladney's books and I remember not liking them very much. I may need to re-read them one day. Now on the other hand, I really enjoyed Chris Carlsen's Berserker trilogy. Although, they were pretty graphic.
80482 Imaro trilogy by Charles Saunders and John Norman's Gor series. I have both series in the DAW editions and just never picked them up.
