Max felt the sting of betrayal racing through him. Though he was not betraying his friend, he was leaving him. That, to him, was close enough to betrayal to count. But, he knew that there was no other way. Braylin had told him to go. He wouldn't have taken no for an answer. So, Max tried to not let the feeling consume him, keeping his pace at one fast but not to fast to raise question to those that had no idea what was going on. He caught sight of a girl down the hall, then. He knew her simply for the fact she bore the same features as the rest of the Braxton family line. Blonde hair and blue eyes as well as the fancy clothing. Not to mention no other children would be wondering around like that. The way she froze suggested something, she knew who they were. But, did she know more?
They didn't have time to worry about her. So, he took the nearest turn and quickened down the empty hall. He figured Braylin would give them just enough time to get out of the castle. Literally, the castle. Max knew Braylin would probably do something to case just enough distraction for him to make a run for it as well. And Max knew Braylin wouldn't wait more than needed, knowing the longer things dragged on, the greater a chance of something going wrong. So, Max hurried. He saw the light flooding in from the main entrance. He was grateful that they had not brought anyone else. No one to gather up.

Braylin kept time in his head, thinking of how quick his lord's pace should be and how long it would take him to get out. Not only that, but Braylin was considering what to do with this pathetic king. Slitting his throat would better everything. But by doing that, Braylin knew he would have to fight Asher. Asher wasn't ready to just let someone murder his dad. It was still his dad regardless of all the wrongs he did.
Braylin couldn't just leave him alive either, though. He wouldn't have a single chance to escape if that were how he left things. One thing came to his mind, and upon hitting the time frame he gave his lord, Braylin pulled the knife from the King's throat, quickly and used the hilt of the dagger to whack the king hard in the skull at just the proper place, strength, and speed to knock the man out. Braylin let his limp body fall to the ground.
Asher's hand had went to his sword when he saw Braylin make a motion, but he froze when Braylin didn't kill his dead. He wondered what was going through the guy's head to not kill Lawerson. But, he didn't question it nor did he have any desire to apprehend him. Asher felt that Braylin was forced into the position he was and shouldn't be punished for that. So, Asher would let him run.
Braylin gave a quick glance to Asher before turning on his heel quickly and heading to the door. During this time, the only one who was not a threat had shakily been becoming one behind Braylin and out of most's notice. Arthur had found a small dagger and was in the way of the door at this point. That wasn't a problem for the young fighter, but he felt bad about what he knew was about to happen.
Arthur tried a weak attempt at stabbing Braylin. Braylin just knocked his hand out of the way and without a single thought or command of his own--all actions done out of instinct and an innate thing that he now had in him--Braylin had dug his own dagger into Arthur. He had fishes the blade under Arthur's ribs and ruptured plenty of things needed for life.
With that done without so much as slowing his steps in the process, Braylin continued out the door and rushed down the hall and was soon nearing the door. To his luck, no guards had notice his running. So he made a break out the main entrance unseen. He slowed down then and walked casually to the gate, them allowing him exit without knowing a thing.
((that okay? I have a class at 2, so I can't reply to anything else yet :/.))

KV: I have two characters not involved in much currently. Both are females, though. I could create another male seeing as I'll have to eventually anyways, if you'd like. But that may take a little bit of time...

Echo said nothing and only watched the fire as well, knowing that this was the time Arcadia would change forever. Echo wouldn't interrupt this if her life depended on it. So she stood still and quietly soaked in the warmth of the flames.

Braylin couldn't help the smirk on his lips as the king spoke. The sad, sad truth of the matter was Braylin somewhat expected for him to be left behind while his house got away. As soon as he releases the King's throat, they would have no leverage and no safety. He wasn't stupid, he knew that. A deal was words and words were useless when said from a man like Lawrence. So, let them be free. That was what Braylin was supposed to do, help his Lord and house in any way he can. As soon as he knew of their safety, Braylin would either glide the blade across the King's throat and killl the bastard, then make a getaway. Or he would just make the getaway. He'd come up with that later.
"Aye, they have done nothing wrong indeed, so the will be allowed leave free of chase or harm," he said sharply to the king. There wouldn't be a way for anyone to know what has happened in this room, so Braylin knew the house's escape would be safe. "Go," he demanded of Max.
Max wasn't able to move. He knew Braylin would do anything for him, even die. But, this...how could he leave his best friend? How would Max be able to deal with the fact he abandoned him? He couldnt go...
Asher didn't wish for anyone to be killed this day. There was no need for bloodshed in this room. This was a room of peace finding. There was a very fine line he could tread on, but he knew it wouldn't work. The king had attacked a man even though the man had freedom of speech. The king was at fault. But, that wouldn't matter. There wasn't a law that could be thrown out to make threatening a king be justified.
"My Lord, I said leave," Braylin repeated a bit of agitation starting to again rise in his voice. He wasn't agitated at Max. But rather, perhaps a little angry that things had to be this way.
Max felt he should follow Braylin's demand. It hadn't led him astray before. The longer things went on, the higher the likelihood more guards roam by by chance and get help. So, he reached his hand this his friend's shoulder and let it linger there. A large amount of sadness and pain being bit back as he spoke. "I expect you to be back in Sorrel no later than a day after me."
"I promise you that," Braylin told. Either his promise would be given or he would be dead. Both men knew there was no in between--most likely.
Max nodded and dropped his hand from Braylin's shoulder before lookin to West and motioning for their leave before he started to walk to the doors.
((btw...Braylin won't dare die. At least not until the end or near it if he does. He's my main character lol.))

It was curious how the young man so ill tempered had managed to not kill this king. But, the reason was simply. He was truly able to control himself when needed. And this was a needed time. His lord would be in danger otherwise and the kingdom in peril.
Asher kept his eyes on Braylin. "What will it take to get you to not do this?" asked Asher.
That answer was easy. "Lord Max as well as the others of Sorrel are allowed safe exit. Once we have made distance from your kingdom, then you may feel free to declare whatever war you wish," he told, looking to only the king as he spoke. "But, we are much more skilled that your fighters, King. As you can clearly see. If you damage my home, I will kill you," he promised. Braylin was already the treason list, might as well make sure his friends were safe.
Max finally was able to comprehend things, but he fell short of speaking. He felt nothing like a lord. Braylin fit that role better than him--especially now. He was a leader. What was Max? Why wasn't he like that? Max almost wanted to laugh at the fact a great leader was fighting under him and making demands for him.
((I figured the king would want to say something before Asher spoke again.))

As if the world slowed, Braylin was watching the king lunge at him, barely moving through the air. This was something he had trained with his master in the forest. It was foreign to Braylin what kind of magic it was, if it were that, but it always happened in times of need of the fighter or if trained well enough one could do it when needed. But, Braylin could only access it when things were horrible.
He didn't question it though. The blade the king held glinted a nasty shine as it came slowly for his throat. The motions for his sword would take to long. So, Braylin opt for his hands. With the back of his forearm, Braylin collide with the King's forearm, the blade only a few inches from his neck--if that--at this point.
The force easily drove the blade off its path just enough to surpass Braylin's neck. But, he didn't stop there. ((picture this happening with the King's right arm and Braylin's left)). Braylin wrapped his arm over the King's, locking the King's arm between Braylin's are and body. At his side was a dagger and his right hand had already taken it and was bringing it to the King's throat.
Braylin pressed the blade horizontally to the King's throat, pressing just hard enough to draw a little blood. Then things moved in normal sleep. "Move and I will cut your throat, my King," coldly threatened.
Asher had barely drawn his blade by the time Braylin had managed to embolize his father and have the upper hand in full. "If any one moves in a manner that threatens my lord, general, or myself, I will kill him," added Braylin when he noticed the glint of steal from Asher's hand in the edge of his vision.
Max had actually frozen. He hadn't been able to react to this. Why?! Why did he always freeze when this this drastic came up?!
((he's going to demand leave for the Sorrel house before he even considers releasing the king, btw. Did all those motions make sense and were they okay?))

((sounds good! I vote Arcadia not know she's a dragon master yet still but being awakened is fine of course :). I would go with her just following a strong pull. I still like the idea of her tripping off a snowy mountain and falling to a ledge that has an iced over cave she can't enter but her dragon hatches from Arcadias almost death and busts outta that bitch all badass like!))

Asher could feel it. A beginning to an end. He knew he wouldn't allow anyone to kill his father. Hell, it was his father. So, he would probably die trying to save the man. But, he also knew his father needed to be off the thrown. Asher knew he would make a good king--or at least a good enough one. So, he had a few draw backs to letting his father fall from position. Major one being his family would possibly lose power all together.
He thought he could save the kingdom. In order to do that, would he have to let it crumble more at his father's careless hands and repair the rumble once his father passed? Was that really the only option that met the need for Asher not to allow his father to die under his guard as well as allowing him to keep the throne in his family's name? Let his dad ruin the kingdom and Asher just try and repair it? Surely there had to be another way. But, time to think it over grew short.
Braylin only need say only a few words. Just a few little words that would fully show how the king was no good king. "You're the king; shouldn't you be telling us how to fix the kingdom? After all, you should have some idea."

A whisper came to Max. It was common in times of great need. In times guidance was needed. Yes. The king is wretched! He steals from our city constantly! One of our moat precious things he stole! He is a bad man with a heart of cold ice who only cares for his well being. The voice sounded very much against the king. A little over the top, but it was a Sorrel decent who had been wronged by the man. It was expected.
"Frankly, my king," Max said, treading carefully to try and keep things from breaking. "The point of your question and my good friend's response was to expose possible issues. Now that they have been proposed, they should be openly reviewed. I do believe that you are ignoring the remarks of my hand simply because they are not making you pleased." That was probably a bit more round-abouting than should of been done.
Asher knew Max's answer was yes. Hell, even Asher knew that it was mainly his father's fault. Things could all be boiled down to the King's fault. Then again, everything always could with any king. The king always gets blamed. But, in this case, there was actual things to blame the king for.
