A very sensitive and well thought through review. I agree; teachers would need to have a very good knowledge of their children's backgrounds, and, I would suggest, discussed use of the book with a more senior member of staff.

Thanks Jim. I'm so glad that you reviewed Truckers! I recommend The Amazing Maurice and His Educated Rodents (Discworld, #28) and The Wee Free Men and sequels, which are novels for children set in Discworld. Pratchett's humour and inventiveness can be great for older children who can read but don't enjoy reading.

Great reviews, everyone- A Squash and A Squeeze was my 4 year old nephew's favourite book for a long time! Sam, have you read the companion book to Skellig, My Name is Mina? It's incredible. Eva Ibbotson sadly died recently; she's one of my favourite authors. I recommend her fantasy books for 7-12 year olds, such as The Secret of Platform 13.
