61281 Eep, I'm so glad so many other people like Arthurian literature! When we went through bits of it last year in English class, it felt like everyone hated it except for me! I actually think I cheered when my topic for the research paper was Morgana. Out loud. In class. It was pretty awesome though. (:

Where have you people been all my life?!

61281 I finished Demonglass last night. The most glorious seven hours of my life. Started at 9:30pm when I got home from the school play and my friend passed it on to me, and closed it shut at 4:20am-ish.

The second-to-last page just about killed me. But at least I know I wasn't hallucinating "Cal is awesome" through the whole first book. *waves Cal flag again*

So that means I'll be starting on Eragon (Inheritance, #1) by Christopher Paolini ! Huzzah! But probably not until tomorrow, like planned, since I dumped all my homework for today, since I was so obsessed with finishing my book club books and tackling Demonglass like a rabid panther...(:

61281 Hello everybody! (:

Karen, congrats on graduating and getting married! That's really exciting! Best of luck to you and your list! (:

Carolyn, your pets sound adorable! <3 I only have one cat, but sometimes I wish we had more animals, hahah.

Kimberly, strangely, drowning in books doesn't seem like a terrible way to die. (; What graphic novels have you read? I've only had a few--mostly the Zelda mangas. OTL

61281 Wow, wish I had all those classics! Someday, I will! (: But yes, probably Arthurian books are ones not to take on all at once, hahah. There's tons to take in!

61281 Awesome! I can't wait to get my hands on my own copy of The Once and Future King. I've only read bits and pieces from textbooks!

61281 Well, I mean, I'm pretty sure I was the only one (besides one of my best friends, huzzah!) who really liked Cal. He was...in all of three scenes in the first book, but from what I hear, he's really important in the second one. (; Hence, why I'm super excited to read it!

This day is dragging painfully on as I've nothing to read right now, hahah.

61281 Well, there's only three in the Hex Hall series at least. (: And I'll warn you, it's not the most mature of books, hahah. How much I enjoyed it outweighed the fact that the writing wasn't really that stupendous and I enjoyed the characters too much to not adore the book, hahah. *waves Team Cal flag*

LotR! I'd love to be you tonight. (;

Sweet! I'll probably be done with Demonglass by Monday, at the latest, so that's when I'll be starting. (:

61281 Jessica, for a read-a-thon, I think summer would be best! My weekends now are all used up for doing homework. OTL

61281 I know, right?! I already know part of the plot (because my friend was dying to tell me), and I...I just about died on the spot. I couldn't eat lunch that day. I couldn't focus in class anymore. I'm going to die waiting for her.

Even so, I had preordered the paperback copy, which comes out/I'll get on Tuesday...but I can't wait that long anymore. OTL

61281 Soooo, DON'T read Tris & Izzie. Such a disappointment. :[

Also, if you haven't watched 'Merlin' on BBC yet...you need to do it! I mean, it's not always accurate (in fact, the first season consists of the writers making you think Guinevere and Merlin are going to fall for each other OTL; but that rights itself second season!), but as someone who's usually such a stickler for accuracy, I LOVE Merlin. It's like...wretchedly fabulous. <3

And as for our Arthurian book read, whenever that happens, I still nominate Steinbeck! (:

I feel as though I'm going to be rambling in this topic, lolololol.

61281 I mostly didn't like The Lovely Bones because of...all the content, I suppose. Lots of sex, not to mention (view spoiler) Ewwwww.

Tris and Izzie I finished in literally, four hours. I was so excited, especially because Harrison is an LDS author and she had a really successful series that almost everyone I know liked! But...again, less than thrilled. It got two stars, because it wasn't THAT awful, but the writing was just downright bad, and then Tristan and Izzie didn't even feel like they were the main plot point, but rather the serpent Gurmun. I just loved the story of Tristan and Isolde, too, and I wanted so badly for this to be better than it was. 3
Like, Tris and Izzie = most awkward love ever. OTL And the King Mark character ended up falling in love with the Bragane character, and when that happened, all accuracy ended. XD

So, when I see my friend later today, she's going to give me "Demonglass" by Rachel Hawkins (which I'm literally splitting at the seams to read), and then once that's done, I'll off to Eragon! (:
Eragon (71 new)
Feb 04, 2012 10:19AM

61281 Eragon is one of my books for a February challenge (read a book where the main character has a pet, OTL), so I need to read it this month, although I'll be happy to participate in any discussions we'll have about it later. (: I'm just going to read Demonglass, but I'm pretty sure that'll be finished either tonight or tomorrow (and I haven't even gotten it yet, hahah), and then I'll be starting Eragon. (:

61281 Okay, I am now reading: Tris & Izzie by Mette Ivie Harrison !

Which is ON my challenge shelf here!

And btw, The Lovely Bones = less than thrilled. >< I reeeeeally wish it had been better.

61281 I haven't read GoW yet, but it's on my list. I did, however, read Of Mice and Men and didn't enjoy it very much at all. I think I ended up giving it two stars on here. It just didn't really interest me and it was so short, I couldn't get to know the characters.

But Steinbeck and Arthurian? It is impossible to go wrong!

61281 I second the Arthurian group read! (; I'd love to read ANYTHING Arthurian, but I might have to nominate the one by John Steinbeck; it's on my 2012 classics challenge. (: (The Acts of King Arthur and His Noble Knights)
