I've just finished
Chain of Iron and completed the 'elements' prompt. I've filled out the rest of my part of the google sheet as well. I ended up putting the pages I read for
The Bloody Chamber and Other Stories under the page points category. Slightly disappointed I couldn't complete my last book, but glad I read the books that I did. Hopefully everyone has a successful rest of the challenge!
Denise wrote: "Jaida wrote: "hi all, I'm currently finishing up Chain of Iron for the elements prompt, but unsure if I'll finish The Bloody Chamber and Other Stories before midnight (..."thank you! I'll update the group once the challenge is over for me to let you know.

hi all, I'm currently finishing up
Chain of Iron for the elements prompt, but unsure if I'll finish
The Bloody Chamber and Other Stories before midnight (it's the 11th for me). Is anyone reading a book that could potentially fit the prompt 'flowers' if I don't finish it in time? sorry if I've caused a big inconvenience, its just been hectic these past two days and I've fallen a bit behind my reading!

I've just finished
Princess of Souls and added it to the 'proper title' prompt, and will continue on with
Chain of Iron for the 'element' prompt. Another book I'm currently reading fits in with the 'flowers' prompt as well as the 'something you find in garden' & 'colour blue'. If I still have time, i'll attempt to read another book to complete an unfinished prompt.

i put
Daddy by emma cline in for 'family member' but if someone else can fulfil that prompt, i can move it to vehicle and complete that double prompt with another book.
i'll add the following books to the planning page, but not guarantees i'll be able to read them all. i should be able to get to a few more though.
1.
Moon of the Crusted Snow (vehicle + others)
2.
Princess of Souls (royal title)
3.
Chain of Iron (element + others)
4.
Honor Bound (planets)

hi all, i've just finished my last full length novel i had assigned for this readathon, so my tbr is open if there are any prompts that may need another book to complete said prompt.

Happy start of the readathon, at least for me! I agree with D.L., 'better off read' is a good team name.
Also, a book I started earlier that I plan on finishing today,
Pirate Girls, has an incredibly boring cover so I can't really find a prompt for it except maybe occupation? But that already has quite a few books to that prompt. I might just count it towards pages for now? I still have just over 200 pages to go, so it's eligible to go towards a prompt if need be.
Denise wrote: "At the risk off sounding dumb...is the idea to cover as many prompts as possible so i should avoid using the same prompt someone else is using?
I'm thinking of:
If Cats Disappeared From the World..."i'm sure Betty can clarify but from my recollection, the only prompts 1 person can do are the singular ones. for the doubles and triples you need 2 or 3 books to fulfil that prompt. right now it doesn't seem like anything is set in stone, so having books that can fulfil a few prompts is good. your question isn't dumb at all!

Hi all, so excited for this readathon!
From a quick peruse of the prompts, these are some books and the prompts they might fit.
1.
Never Let Me Go (The colour blue)
2.
Chain of Gold (Elements, Weapon)
3.
Daddy (Vehicle, Family Member)
4.
The Bloody Chamber and Other Stories (The colour blue, Flowers)
My tbr is open for 1-2 more books realistically, so I can choose books to help with the double/triple prompts.

1. Tools of Engagement (368) ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
i really liked this, it was a short, fast pace book that was really cute. it wasn't spectacular or anything like that, but there was nothing i disliked about this and it was a really enjoyable read. i really like the main female character, and i liked how they were both relatively well-written characters with depth.
2. As Good As Dead (audiobook) ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
i have no clue why it took me so long to read this book since i've kept up with this series since it started, but omg it was so fucking good. i listened to this via audiobook and it was really really good, although i couldn't remember much from the second book. so good omg i'm sad its over, what a good conclusion to this trilogy.
3. Lore (480) ⭐️⭐️⭐️.5
I quite enjoyed this book, the premise was really interesting and the plot was relatively fast-paced. the romance was underdeveloped imo, and i think it could've been better utilised instead of being pushed towards the last 10% of the novel. i don't know anything about greek mythology but felt the book was pretty digestible in explaining the lore of it all.
4. The Giver of Stars (audiobook) ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
omg to think i almost unhauled this book. i loved this so much more than i expected to, the relationships explored in this novel were so well written and really made this story. i now feel the need to reconsider why i seem to avoid historical fiction novels so much. the narrator did such good job telling this story, couldn't recommend it more.
5. Dark Corners ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
this book was really enjoyable, well-paced, and the perfect length. i didn't like this one as much as the first, however it was still a really solid book. didn't 100% vibe with the romance once it went from tension to contact, but overall i think the mystery aspect was really good and i really liked the little breadcrumbs left and how the story wrapped up. i guessed some of the plot twists, but it was a satisfying result of picking up on those clues instead of it being blatantly obvious.
6. The Starless Sea (audiobook) ⭐️⭐️⭐️
i wanted to like this book, but i honestly found it a bit convoluted and hard to follow at times. maybe the format i read it in was not the best choose, but it got quite confusing towards the end. i liked some aspects of it though and it was still relatively enjoyable, just wished i liked it more. veryyyy generous 3 stars.
7. Beautiful World, Where Are You (audiobook) ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
this book was lovely, i was a bit confused in the beginning but it really grew on me. think it might be my fav sally rooney - very glad i picked it up but will def have to reread physically.
8. The Whisper Man ⭐️⭐️⭐️.5
my second alex north book, and whilst i didn't enjoy this one as much as 'the shadows', it was still a really enjoyable mystery. i think the storyline was really interesting, and seeing all the plot lines come together was really satisfying. the ending provided a nice sense of intrigue - overall a solid read.
9. Pretty Girls ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
a book i absolutely loved and adored that i will never read again. devastating, intriguing, emotional - just all in my feelings about this one and honestly don't even know what to say.

1. Honor Lost (448) ⭐️⭐️
i really wanted to like this book, but this book felt so different to the first two books. the vibes were just off. saw a review that described it as fan fiction based on the first two books, and couldn't agree more. i really liked some of the side characters, including starcurrent, marko, and C-X. however, i strongly disliked certain decisions the authors made. 1) making the two main girl characters a couple. there were no romantic vibes in the first two books (that i picked up on), then suddenly in like the first two chapters they're kissing and suddenly a couple? don't get me wrong i love lesbians/bi women, but it just didn't feel organic or like there was build up to it. 2) they then become an alien throuple, alongside eluding to masturbation/sex with an alien. so fucking weird man it just was so odd to me. didn't rate it. 3) justice for C-X, a badass who's i personally would've preferred a different ending for but whatever. also on that note, no one really got a happy ending except the throuple. poor marko is just paralysed and left on earth, and star current just dies. there's just no conclusion for most of the characters. anyway, a disappointing read, but thankfully not reading slump inducing.
2. She's Always Hungry: Stories (109) ⭐️⭐️⭐️ .5
arc preview sample provided by faber.
3. The Chalk Man (346) ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
i quite liked this one, i was intrigued throughout and didn't once feel bored of the book. i think i preferred 'the drift' by cj tudor, but i still really liked this one. read it in one day, reading bits and pieces throughout. i didn't really 'see' any of the plot twists coming, except that the priest was a creep. everything else kinda went over my head only because i didn't really think about it and was kinda tired. didn't predict the killer or anything, but really liked the ending eluding that ed was starting to lose his memory. really glad i picked this one up!
4. The Chain (368) ⭐️⭐️⭐️.75
i really loved the premise for this book, parents kidnapping other peoples kids and the whole intrigue of it. the chapters are short which suited the story, and you get thrown into it straight away. however, the execution didn't do the plot full justice imo. the kidnapping portion of the book ends around the 2/3 mark, and the last 1/3 is the pair investigating this chain in an attempt to take it down + snippets into the life of the siblings who run it. the ending really let it down for me, it just was a bit comical in the whole villains thing. i also think the author could've spiralled the characters a bit more into the whole 'bat shit crazy' element of the kidnapping scheme. overall was still enjoyable and glad i read it.
5. Truly Madly Deeply (530) ⭐️⭐️.5
this book is too long, should've been a maximum of 400 pages at the most. too be completely honest that was my main critique, i just wanted the book to end. some elements of this book i reallllly liked, but some just weren't for me and just blah. i liked the online text portion of the book, and was glad it was revealed early on and the author didn't use it as a third act conflict/breakup like other books with the same element. it was also very cute how the main guy ran with the main girl. overall, nothing special and quite lacklustre but i don't regret reading it per say.
6. Dirty Rowdy Thing (338) ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
god i loved this book. is it a literary masterpiece? no, but i just fucking loved it. the two characters, the chemistry everything - chefs kiss.
7. Rule of Wolves (audiobook) ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️.5
i liked this one a lot more than i expected too. Hannah and Nina, Zoya and Nikolai, i really loved spending time with these characters. however, not happy about bringing david back just to kill him, how could you leigh?????? however, i have decided that this book will 99% be my last grishaverse book, i think i'm ready to call it a day and retire it. The narrator did an amazing job once again, and it really made the story.
8. The Priory of the Orange Tree (830) ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️.5
wow, i'm actually so impressed with myself that i finished this book. overall, i actually really liked it. the first 150 or so pages were a bit of a slog and very confusing, but i pushed through and things starting making more and more sense. i really liked most of the character povs, except for roos but i loved all the different storylines and how you slowly realised how they're all connected. i have a few complaints but they're relatively minor. 1) the map was so confusing and didn't help me orientate myself geographically, 2) the pacing was quite off, and it was really slow in the beginning then i felt it rushed the big final fight scene/conclusion we had spent all of the book leading up to. either way, i still really enjoyed it and will be picking the next book up.
9. The Song Rising (350) ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️.5
I really liked this book, i think the pacing was much better than in the second book and the plot kicked off right at the beginning of the book. I'm really looking forward to reading the next book, especially since we're leaving the UK and hopefully learning more about the world outside of scion. Can't really fault it, but it just fell a bit short for a five star imo.

1. Fallen Crest High (375) ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
it's hard to rate this one because its a nostalgic read from when i was younger. its it a great book? no. would i give it 4 stars if it were a new read? maybe, but either way i just really love this story, no matter how dated it reads.
2. Chain of Thorns (688) ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
omg what a conclusion. i adore this trilogy and this final book was so so good. certain character death that occurs in the last 30% of the novel is so depressing i gasped out loud and said 'wtf' because wtf cassie clare????? i will say however that the characters that do survive all get happy endings so im glad about that. i can also officially say i've read all shadowhunter books, its only been a decade but i've finally done it. can't wait for the last shadowhunter trilogy coming in the next few years, it'll be sad to say goodbye to one of my first fictional worlds.
3. The God of the Woods (437) ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
i devoured this book. i was slightly torn between a 4.75 or 5 star but fuck it, i liked it enough. I really liked the way this story was told. the way the author merged the past and the present together. they weren't as closely linked together as i thought, but the way she brought the story together was done really well. by the end of the book, all loose threads and breadcrumbs the author dropped had been connected/addressed and it was a satisfying end to the book. there were a lot of characters but i ended up really liking the multiple povs, weirdly enough part 2 'bear' which mainly followed Alice was one of my favourites.
4. My Husband (audiobook) ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
omg that was soooo good. the ending actually gagged me to my core. wtf. they way this book was written made for the perfect audiobook, as if you were inside this woman's head and just hearing the stream of consciousness. problematic, i know, but they were literally couple goals. the epilogue????? god it was so fucked up but tell me why i was literally nodding my head during the whole sunday passage. fucked up people doing fucked up things. side note, i too would not like to be described as a clementine.
5. Honor Among Thieves (467) ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️.5
this was my second time reading this book. i really enjoyed it, i think the premise is really fun and i can't think of many ya sci-fis that i've read. i gave it a slightly lower rating this time round, only because i've read some reallllly incredible 5 star reads lately and this just isn't at the same level for me. still really enjoyable and can't wait to pick the second one up soon.
6. King of Scars (audiobook) ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
i ended up liking this book way more than i thought. going in, i wanted to read it as i own it but didn't plan on finishing the duology. now i've already borrowed the 2nd book from my library and can't wait to pick it up. i absolutely love ninas storyline, and can't wait to see what happens with the darkling. i didn't expect the ending, but am tentatively interested in seeing how it resolves itself.
7. Sordid (336) ⭐️⭐️.5
second time read, please disregard.
8. Honor Bound (496) ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
didn't care for this one as much as the first book, but still an enjoyable read. it does read quite ya, nothing wrong with that just an observation. am intrigued to read the last book as it picks up right where this book ended. i feel like this trilogy was written at the same time as each other, so i'm anticipating it'll have a nice clean conclusion (hopefully).
