outcome: 29 books, 4,561 pages, 69h 57m

1. The Time Traveler's Wife [audiobook] ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
conflicted feelings about this one. the romance felt gross at times, and made it hard to be enjoyable or likeable. however, it was extremely emotional at times, especially the ending.

2. You [422] ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
second re-read. so enjoyable, really shows how badly the show fell off in later seasons.

3. Everyone in My Family Has Killed Someone [audiobook] ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
this was such a fun read, pleasantly surprised it was set in australia. was such an intriguing mystery, and the audiobook narrator was great.

4. The Field Guide [audiobook] ⭐️⭐️⭐️.5

14. The Wrath of Mulgarath [audiobook] ⭐️⭐️⭐️.25

58421 april wrap-up
outcome: 20 books, 6,761 pages, & 21h 34m

1. Pines [audiobook] ⭐️⭐️⭐️.25
i struggle with this one because i came into it slightly bias. i watched the show when it first came out and really enjoyed it, and probably compared the show to the book too many times whists reading. i enjoyed this book, but felt the atmosphere didn't live up to the show (ughhh i keep comparing). but i will be reading the next book once i can find it.

2. Indelible [445] ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️.5
i kept putting this one off but so glad i finally picked it up, such a good read!

3. Sunrise on the Reaping [390] ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
this book was devastating. despite knowing roughly what happens to haymitch and during the second quarter quell, this book still managed to keep me hooked. I loved it and I sobbed so much during that last chapter.

4. Faithless [542] ⭐️⭐️⭐️.75
i didn't dislike this book but i felt slightly underwhelmed by it, disconnected from the characters to a certain extent. however, i still enjoyed the story and was intrigued to keep reading.

5. Skin Privilege [416] ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️
when i catch you karin slaughter.... this is not how you end a series, fucking hell. are you kidding me? devastating, wtf. i actually can't with this book, this is how it ends??? where's the closure, how does it just end?????? now entering my karin slaughter detox phase.

6. This Mortal Coil [454] ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️.5
this book was enjoyable enough, i probs would've enjoyed it more when i first bought it.

7. Life’s Too Short [384] ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️.5
this book was devastatingly good. i don't love the miscommunication in this book, slightly frustrating, but she did a great job at building the relationship and making us believe in it. however i would not hand my baby to a random man at 4am.

8. The Host [619] ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️.5
i actually really loved this one, didn't feel remotely as long as it was and it was so insanely good. wish stephanie wrote more books like this.

9. The Coldest Girl in Coldtown [419] ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️.75
didn't love this one unfortunately, but glad I got around to reading it. hard to follow the motivations of our main character when they either made no sense or relied on such unlikable characters.

10. The Dark Mirror [576] ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️.75
i really enjoyed this one, not my favourite in the series but still a super strong book.

11. The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo [audiobook] ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️.5
i thought i wouldn't like this book, but was pleasantly surprised that i did. the narrators were compelling, and the story felt very quintessential tjr.

12. Say You'll Remember Me [416] ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️.5
man this book was fucking bleak, so hard to root for a couple when they're so miserable. one of the first romance books where i've connected more with the hero than the heroine.

13. This Cruel Design [439] ⭐️⭐️⭐️
i just didn't care about this book, won't be continuing.

14. The Hunger Games [368] ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

15. Stay Awake [audiobook & 92 pages] ⭐️⭐️⭐️
this was quite disappointing, entertaining enough but not really compelling.

16. Catching Fire [402] ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
i think its my fav in the trilogy.

17. Before You Knew My Name [audiobook] ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
i was pleasantly surprised by how much i enjoyed this book. felt like a literacy mystery fiction if that's even a thing, but nonetheless an enjoyable reading experience.

18. False Witness [440] ⭐️⭐️⭐️.5
i admit that i wasn't particularly in the mood for this book. the covid references annoyed me slightly, and made the book feel dated even though it came out only a few years ago. this book was less who dun it/mystery and more psychological thriller/what's going to happen.

19. The Summer of Broken Rules [359] ⭐️⭐️⭐️.75
this was cute, not super substantial and slightly insta-lovey but a vibe nonetheless.

20. The Bad Beginning [audiobook] ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
first read this when i was a kid, such a fun and nostalgic book and the audiobook had background noises and was overall really well done!

58421 I second the nomination for Little Fires Everywhere!
Mar 10, 2025 02:53AM

58421 I'm about 25% through and not loving it. The premise is intriguing to me, but so far the characters are just falling short for me. This is my first Lucy Foley so I'm trying to be optimistic and hopefully it picks up soon.
Feb 28, 2025 03:30PM

58421 I'll definitely be able to finish Of Love and Other Demons to complete the nobel prize category. I'm planning for 1 more book (potentially 2 but can't commit to that), these are the categories I can fulfil if we don't have anything else planned.
- Audie
- Hugo Award, Nebula, or Locus

58421 Hi all, hopefully we've all gotten to some good books so far! I had a super slow start with Babel, but I'll finally finish it tonight and plan on finishing These Broken Stars tomorrow. Apart from those two book, I'm planning of reading Of Love and Other Demons and potentially one other book if I can find one that fits.

With my completion of Babel, the hugo award etc prompt will need 1 more book to complete - is anyone planning of fulfilling it?

ohh, it's nice to have another aussie!

I completed my first non-prompt book yesterday, Small Things Like These, which I surprisingly couldn't fit into any prompts unfortunately. I'll be tackling Babel this weekend, since it's my most intimidating and longest book on my readathon tbr.

58421 Hi all! I've perused through the prompts and put some ideas into the tracking page. It was a bit harder than I thought finding books to fill the prompts as I don't own many eligible books, but I'm excited nonetheless for this group read!
