439228 Hi Kristie, I was about to make the poll for this month and noticed that you nominated The Shining. The Shining was our October 2018 read and I'm not sure the group's policy on rereads. I emailed Nikki to check. I am going to hold off on making the poll until I hear from Nikki since I am new to being a mod for this group.

439228 I loved this book! I did the audio version which was awesomely narrated by Wil Wheaton. I found it to be the audio version of a real page turner. I never wanted to stop listening!

439228 I love Backman! I have been wanting to read that one.
439228 I have been enjoying this challenge - I'll sign up for Q2!

My favorite genres are contemporary literary fiction and fantasy but I read fairly widely. I like sci-fi, classics, I’ve been more into thrillers and mysteries lately. I read some YA and middle grade. I have a reading goal for 2019 to read more women and more books in translation.

I am willing to have two partners if there is an odd number.

439228 I just finished Girl with a Pearl Earring. I loved it! I had to google all the paintings she talked about in the book. I loved the descriptions of her grinding the pigments and stuff too. What an interesting love story!

Alright here are my March picks for you.

The first one is one I just read in Feb. I absolutely adored it. I didn't want to put it down. Simon vs. the Homo Sapiens Agenda

Next I will go with Water for Elephants.

Over the last six months or so I have been reading the Millennium series. Lisbeth Salander is one of my favorite book characters, so I will suggest The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo. SO far the 3rd book has been my absolute favorite, but the whole series is good.

Next I will try a non-fiction from your tbr - Hidden Figures: The American Dream and the Untold Story of the Black Women Mathematicians Who Helped Win the Space Race.

Last I will go with a wild card pick - The Night Circus. This is a magically delightful love story.

Happy reading!

439228 Thanks for the book choices! I just put a hold on Girl with a Pearl Earring and Havana Bay.

439228 Alright - here's your February list. I saw you had a book by Catherynne Valente on your TBR. I haven't read the one on your list, but:
Deathless is A.mazing. I couldn't put the book down. It is based on Russian folklore and takes place partly during the Siege of Leningrad. The writing is just amazing and magical.

Next I will suggest The Girl on the Train. A little anti-love story for Feb. lol!

Ok, on to a nice love story involving books - The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society.

I saw The Miraculous Journey of Edward Tulane on your list. I love everything I have ever read by DiCamillo. I started reading her because my daughter insisted. This was the first one I read.

Next I'm going to go out on a limb and suggest The Final Empire. The first trilogy of this series is one of the best I've read. The third book is truly epic - but even the first is damn good!

439228 I loved Carrie! The audio book I got was narrated by Sissy Spacek too, so that was cool. I can't believe I haven't read that one before! I wen through quite the King phase in high school but somehow missed this one. Now I want to rewatch the movies. It seems to my memory that the Sissy Spacek version kept pretty close to the book.

439228 Yay! My hold on Carrie came in, so I'll squeak in one more book for January!
