I got so sucked into that show! I have all the seasons on DVD.

Well said, Jennifer. I am definitely a homebody and I need to be encouraged to get out there. So I know what you mean.

Welcome, Luisa and Pamela.
I firmly believe that a good approach to reading the classics is to find classic books that you would read anyway, not ones you think you should read. It's amazing how many different classic books are out there waiting to be discovered by a novice reader.

Welcome, Melissa and Danielle.

I like the idea of doing the books sequentially, or alphabetically. Or even two books that month.

I don't know if it was a snow storm, but I had heard that they were at a lake lodge during a storm and issued each other a challenge to write a gothic story.

I don't think I can do it this month. But I will jump in and talk about it when I read it.

If I can get a copy, Jill. I'd love to join you. When were you thinking of reading it?

February should work fine for me. Thanks for putting this together, Jill.

I totally agree. Have you watched the tv show? It came on several years ago. I fell in love with Roxton on there, and I am happy to say that I loved him in the book just as much if not more.

Welcome, Daniella, Laura, and Cary!

I won't get to read it in October, but I'll post when I do get to read it!

That's lovely, Teri-lynn.

I didn't have time to reread this, but I wanted to pop in and say this is one of my all time favorites. Fantastic coming of age story with enduring themes about courage, integrity, prejudice, and honor. Loved it!

That is an interesting article. Must feel great to know you built your own house!

Mupples, I don't think Henry James' writing style is for me. I read Turn of the Screw and I was very underwhelmed.

I would like to read Vilette as well.
