It’s not SFF but it looks awesome. Chris Evans and Ana de Armas back together in an romcom with bomb-bomb. (You’ll see.)"

You had me at Ana de Armas 😀

Edit: After watching the trailer. This is the action movie I wanted after seeing Ana in the last Bond movie. I'm in for bad ass Ana

4170 The Goodreads app is notoriously a PitA to use. I only ever use a desktop to access this site (usually)

There must be an easier way, but here is one way to make a thread. (I am using the iOS app. So I hope all apps are the same)

Go to: https://www.goodreads.com/group/show/...
Scroll down and click on (Discussions) "general"

Up in the top right corner there should be a '+' button.
Click on that. Make a title for your Thread.
Then make your post. Then click 'Post' button (Top right

Obviously, choose a different section (other than 'General') if you want your topic to go under that section.

'General' should do for your topic.

No it was Tom that did it wrong. He had picked the wrong option when setting it up. He had chosen a Voting Challonge by mistake and only realised with a few hours to go. He then changed it to a Prediction Challonge, which is what it should have been.

Only those on Discord who saw the correction in time, got their predictions in. All the previous picks on Challonge got wiped (including yours)

It's like being back at school and writing notes in the margins of your text books.

I want the feature where instead of a virtual book mark, they let you virtually dog-ear the pages.
4170 City of Brass was a good read.

I'm also interested to see how the 2 polls compare. I voted for every book that is leading on the Challonge page.
4170 Why is Lauren Boebert spying on the young girl and her friends?

The link is working for me.

4170 The best Time Travel movie is, of course, Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure.

Their use of time paradoxes and anomalies to solve problems is brilliant in its absurdity.

=1 to Trike for mentioning Time Bandits. A much underrated movie that doesn't get enough love. It's a movie I quote from time to time.

It someone asks me "How long ......?". My go to answer is "4 foot 1" 😉

I'm not a fan of those sort of horror movies.

The content creators would say that people like you are the problem.

I don't. Your position is something I hear often. Why invest the time to end up being disappointed.

A show like Kindred is always going to be a slow burn and build an audience by word of mouth. It should have been green lit for at least 2 seasons. With an ending planned (if Season 1 wasn't as popular as they wanted) It was cancelled 2 weeks before it was even aired 😕

To just end it on a cliff hanger was cruel. At least the book exists and there is always the chance that some other service will pick it up and finish it.

Trike wrote: "I suspect Disney will shut down Hulu sooner rather than later. "

Hulu doesn't exist outside the US. On Disney+ here they have an extra menu (along with Star Wars, Marvel, etc called 'Star' that has all the Hulu content. We pay a little more than you pay for D+

Trike wrote: "I think the streaming landscape will look very different a year or two from now. Guess we’ll find out."

Let the purge begin.

I expect Prime, Disney+, Apple+ and Netflix will survive. The rest will either merge together to compete or be consumed by the bigger services.

Trike wrote: "My 40th high school reunion is coming up"

My 40th was over 5 years ago. Last November it was 45 years since I finished HS 😕

Yes I am old.

4170 I've watched the whole series of Kindred (on Disney+ in Oz and most other countries. Hulu in the US)

It is a great adaptation of the Octavia E. Butler book of the same name. About an African-American woman who time travels, accidentally, backwards and forwards from the present (2016) to a southern US plantation in the early 1800s.

Only problem I have with it, is that it finished on a cliff hanger and now I have to wait for Season 2

Edit: I just looked up to see if season 2 has been green lit, only to find out it got cancelled. WTF 😕

I guess I'll have to buy the books to find out what happens.

Yes, I've read it. It was amazing."

If we ever read this for S&L it would have to come with trigger warnings.

There are very explicit scenes of violence and torture against children. Disturbingly so at times.

I enjoyed the premise of the book and what it was trying to do, but I did mark it down a full star for those scenes.

I did the one breath version, as that is naturally how Aussies talk.

We don't enunciate words, or letters, we just roll them all into one mash-up. That's why we have to slow down for foreigners to be understood. 😉

I still didn't rhyme Z with V. Just went for the awkward non-rhyming ending.
