Finished Jade War by Fonda Lee. Looking forward to the conclusion some day. Now it's on to the next war, The Poppy War, but not before paying my respects...

Ladyhawke was my favourite film growing up, and I loved him as Roy, too. :( Genuinely sad about this one."Mr. Hauer did great work in some memorable genre films. According to IMDb he was filming A Christmas Carol as the Ghost of Christmas Future. I wonder if he finished?
IMBb also reminded me that he was the title character in Hobo with a Shotgun ;-)
A reminder...If you are a Worldcon member this year, The Poppy War is in the Hugo Voter Packet. R.F. Kuang is a nominee for John W. Campbell Award for Best New Writer.
If you're a fan of Harry Connolly, he's kickstarting his next Twenty Palaces novel. Length of the novel will be determined by the amount raised.https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/...

I liked the story, but I agree that we kind of sprinted through the conclusion. However, it's a decent first novel. I'd be willing to read more from Ms. Nichols.
