No way! How would I stack the nominations if I just gave high fives to anyone who wanted one?

https://www.goodreads.com/event/show/...
Wow...This feels so official now. We've only ..."
Haha. Better late than never!
I've just been updating your thread topic whenever someone has posted something with the date for the next meeting, but since you created this thread you can do that as well. So that's usually the other thing I do when I create a new event for our meetups.
For the last 2 monthly messages I've just linked to whichever post in this thread mentions the date of the next meetup, but if you're going to start creating events each month, I'll start linking to those instead.
Also, I have a section on each meetup in the FAQ: https://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/...
So if you want me add/change details for yours, let me know. For example I don't list you guys meet at spider-house. If you want me to add that I can (ideally with a url for the website for additional information)

With regards to the link I just post the link to our meetup thread (in both the Original Post and a new one so people get a notification).
I also copy it over to our google hangout as well.
Just note the initial page you're taken to is the "invite" page, which has a different url than the actual event URL, so you want to click the link on the page to take you to the event.
You can also opt to be notified when people sign up for the event, which I personally like.
Honestly I could probably just manage everything via our hangout instead, but by creating events here it's open/visible to anyone new who might be interested in coming. If I kept it to the hangout only then it might appear we're no longer meeting or some kind of exclusive thing.
Plus it doesn't require using another service when in theory most of our members are already on Goodreads anyways.

*appears in a cloud of smoke*
For the our meetups, I always create a new group event each month: https://www.goodreads.com/event/new_g....
That lets me put the date, times, location and description and then allows me see whose signed up to make a reservation.
We also have/use a google hangout that I use to confirm the final count before making the reservation the Monday before our meetups, because some people are bad about signing up or updating their status if something changes.
Permissions should be such that anyone can create the events. If not, let me know and I can look at them.
*vanishes again*

Just like last year I'll be periodically rolling up the nominations as we go.
FAQ:
How Many books can I nominate? One.
You CANNOT nominate one book and second another.
You CANNOT nominate both a Fantasy book and a Sci-Fi book.
Just ONE book total.
If you mention more than one, I'm going to pick one. Likely the first one you mention.
Please be CLEAR about your nomination.
Can we nominate any book we want? The main criteria is that it's a Fantasy or Sci-Fi book we haven't read.
That said, it's preferable that you also nominate a book by an author we haven't read as well. Those nominations will likely have a better chance of making the final bracket.
This year we have a new rule that prevents authors from nominating their own books. In addition we'd like to prevent people from nominating their friend's book etc. If I see you doing this, I will first warn you to pick another book, and later simply ignore your nomination all together.
Can I change My Nomination? Yes, but if you do so, please specify which book you are changing it from, as I'm doing this by hand.
How many books will be selected? 16 (8 Fantasy, 8 Sci-Fi)
When do nominations close? Monday, February 25th 8:00 PM EST. This will give Tom & Veronica some time to make the final bracket, and allow me to close the nomination thread before I go to bed :).
Which books will be selected? Whichever books Tom & Veronica want. They will simply use the nominations in this thread for suggestions.
How will the books be seeded? This is entirely up to Tom & Veronica. They may take into account how many people have nominated a book, but there is no guarantee.
The book I want was already nominated. You can second a nomination made by someone else, and I'll count how many people have nominated that book and sort accordingly.
No one else is nominating my book, should I change my vote to something more popular? In my opinion, you're better off just nominating a book you're interested in us reading than hoping to game the nomination system by changing your vote.
Most years some of the books in the final bracket had only a single nomination, while several books with multiple nominations didn't make it. Multiple nominations may help it get noticed or in the seeding, but really all of that is up to Tom & Veronica.
How are the Nominations Sorted? The numbering is based on number of nominations, followed by when they moved up the list (i.e. based on post order). This number will likely not reflect the actual seeding as that will be entirely up to Tom & Veronica.
My nomination is missing/wrong! Sorry about that. I'm doing this by hand. Please post again and yell at me for missing, or not grouping it with another nomination for the same book, or marking you down for the wrong book, etc. If you're not clear about your nomination (or you nominate 2) I may add the "wrong" book. Please be sure you're clear, and I can fix it.

Just vote for the book you want. All that really matters is what 16 books Tom and Veronica pick in the end. We're going to have far more suggestions than they can seed, and they'll probably pull a few books out of the air again.

Just like last year I'll be periodically rolling up the nominations as we go.

I really like things being organized a certain way, so I guess that's why I put up with all that is involved with keeping it organized the way I like it.

lol!
