4170 I've been to the San Francisco meeting. I'd like to visit them all eventually

If you just make a post with the next date/time/location in this thread, I'll be sure to include it in my messages.

Since you're the thread creator, you can always edit the original post to have a link to your facebook group and/or update the thread title each month with the date of the next meetup

4170 I had thought I was including all the regular groups, but I didn't realize that Tacoma was still meeting or that Seattle had a group at all..

If you guys want me to include your upcoming events in the new monthly blast, let me know.

If you're not creating group events (https://www.goodreads.com/event/list_...) or regularly updating a thread in the group's local meetup section (like this one) that will make it a lot harder for me though. I'd prefer to be able to link to an event or a post in the group rather than something external.

Anyone should have permissions to create an event. I know Goodreads isn't the best interface for coordinating meetups. Our group has a Google hangout we mostly use to communicate, but I try to cross-post here as well so that people who don't already come know what's going on.

Thanks for the link in your reply. That did the trick and I am now signed on to the challenge.

I do have the Goodreads app installed and it was taking me into that, as you suggested.

Well I'm glad the app works well for someone! I wish it worked better for my needs. Glad you the challenge thing sorted out.

And you're welcome. I really love the group, so it's worth the extra effort.

Yeah. I really love the one I go to.

You can still join. I think it lets you join right up until December 31st.

Do you have the goodreads app installed on your phone? If so are the links taking you into the app?

The goodreads phone apps in my experience are terrible. I only use it for doing book updates. Everything else I just do in Chrome (I have an Android device).

Try visiting the links in a browser maybe? If you have and it's still not working, I'm not sure what to tell you.

You could try visiting: https://www.goodreads.com/challenges/... and clicking on each challenge from there maybe?

4170 Yeah. That was from the resend I did from home. Thanks everyone.

4170 Alright. It's probably safe to assume it didn't go out then.

I'll try again from home later today.
4170 Dara wrote: "Perhaps now I can get a nomination endorsement from her..."

Are those actual endorsements? I went looking on twitter, but apparently I no longer follow you I guess. I wasn't sure if you made up joke quotes or actually got responses from those authors on Twitter..

I almost made a comment this morning saying "MRK is going to have to update her comment"

4170 Did anyone get a new group broadcast message from me yet?

I got sent to a strange 'page not found', and so I'm not sure if the message was actually sent or what. I don't really want to send it again and spam people. I know when I did it last month it took awhile for me to get mine, but others got it sooner.

I guess if I don't hear back that people got it and/or haven't gotten one myself by the time I get home from work I'll try to send it again from home.

My work internet can be wonky/time out sometimes, so I probably should have just waited to send it after work instead..

For anyone interested, this is what the page I got said:

"Page-Is-Gone, son of Aragorn, grandson of Arathorn

All that is gold does not glitter,
Not all those who wander are lost;
The old that is strong does not wither,
Deep roots are not reached by the frost.

From the ashes a fire shall be woken,
A light from the shadows shall spring;
Renewed shall be blade that was broken,
The crownless again shall be king.

— J.R.R. Tolkien, The Fellowship of the Ring

4170 In a bit of a switch-up, Veronica has selected a Laser book for February: The Calculating Stars by Mary Robinette Kowal.

Tom will be picking a Sword book for March in return, while we conduct our March Madness tournament for the April pick.

4170 According to the Wiki (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Mag..., it looks like their parent company(https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Univers...) is one of the producers and NBC (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/NBCUniv...) is the distributor.

4170 The Magicians is on Netflix in the US I believe. But for all I know SyFy is the one licensing it to them.

The streaming rights were a big part of the issue with the The Expanse, but I'm not sure about Dark Mat

Agreed. I'm kind of shocked they haven't cancelled the Magicians yet. However it's probably a lot cheaper to make than those shows.

4170 After they cancelled two of their best shows (first Dark Matter) then the Expanse well before their time, I'm done investing in their new stuff...
