4170 personally I find comics too expensive. I tend to borrow trades from the library. For the trades I really enjoy I try to buy the hard cover collector editions.

I'm not sure what the answer is. I feel like the individual issues can't have been doing great in sales recently.

Good art is time consuming and therefore not cheap. There will always be young and hungry upcoming artists, but for big fans they are going to follow artists they like.

Will a monthly subscription service cover the costs though?

It seems like we're trending away from ownership to a bunch of subscriptions for content anyways. I still like to buy stuff though.

I listened to mp3s in the 2000s. And not of My Chemical Romance. *shrug*

4170 I had no idea who Gerald Way is since I don't listen to MCR. I didn't see/absorb his name let alone the fact that he's the lead singer of successful band.

Talk about an overachiever. lol.

4170 Yeah, I cut down my goals this year, but I've typically averaged 15-20 sci-fi books over the last few years, so I guess I cut it down a bit too much.

It's possible I'll hit 15 before the end, but just as possible I'll fall short.

4170 For my own personal challenges, I'm finished with:

Personal: 32/50 (64% complete)
Sword: 11/15 (73% complete, 15% ahead of schedule)
Laser: 12/10 (120% complete)
Comics: 5/5 (100% complete)

This month I've added 2 Sword, 1 Laser, 0 Graphic novels. I also did a mystery book towards my general challenge.

For August I'm likely to add 1 or 2 fantasy, 0 sci-fi, 1 graphic novel and probably some non-fiction to my general challenge.

I can't get a copy of the August pick from the library so I likely won't be reading it.

4170 It's August already? Time has no meaning to me these days I guess.

So what are you reading this month?

4170 Netflix has picked up the full 7 seasons of Dragon Prince: https://www.tor.com/2020/07/24/netfli...

I'm super excited about this, I've really been enjoying the show and it's nice to see they'll get to tell the planned story as intended rather than having to worry about season to season stuff.
4170 Our August pick will be Elysium by Jennifer Marie Brissett.

Let us know what you think about the pick.

4170 I really enjoyed Peace Talks. So much so that I finished it in less than 2 days and wrote a review while I was at it (I haven't written a review in about 5 months or so).

It's hard to believe it's been 6 years since the Dresden book. No spoilers as it's book 16 in the series, but is has the usual Harry snark and fast-paced action sequences that made me fall in love with this series while building on the plot arc in a way that has me glad Battle Ground comes out in October.

4170 Season 3 of Killing Eve from my DVR. That was alright.

I also finally got to starting The Boys. I had wanted to read all the graphic novels first, but decided I've read enough to be safe to watch season 1.

I've also been watching One Piece and Schitt's Creek on Netflix

4170 I'm already 70% done with Peace Talks. I'll be done tomorrow.

I'd be listening to that as well, except I also got Peace Talks today too. And I've been waiting far longer for that one.
