Superhero novels (24 new)

4170 I really enjoyed Drew Hayes super hero college series, but he wrote them as a web series I think, so it's pretty long, especially the last 2 books. I did them in audio and the 4th book was like 40 hours.

It was a great listen during lockdown though.

4170 Damn. I only went there the one time when I came to visit and stopped in for your meeting, but it seemed like a cool place.

Terrible.

4170 I'd agree with Prince of Dragons. I'd also recommend Infinity Train, which is apparently on HBO Max I guess. But that's very short.

4170 For my own personal challenges, I'm finished with:

Personal: 28/50 (56% complete)
Sword: 9/15 (60% complete, 10% ahead of schedule)
Laser: 11/10 (110% complete)
Comics: 5/5 (100% complete)

This month I've added 1 Sword, 3 Laser, 0 Graphic novels.

For July I'm likely to add 2 or 3 fantasy, depending on how the July S&L pick goes for me/when I get my hold from the library.

I'll probably get in another audio book too, but I'm not sure what that'll be. Maybe something non-genre, especially since I've finished my Laser challenge and I already have 2 fantasy audiobooks slated for the month.

4170 We've crossed the halfway point of this awful year. What books are you reading this month to help keep your sanity?
Quick Burns (2020) (563 new)

4170 Please create a new thread to talk about Princess Bride, Quibi, etc so we can get back just Quick Burns.
4170 Removed my comment because I don't need to push this off topic.
4170 It's interest to see the very different takes on this book so far. Seems to be love or hate with little middle ground.

I'm way behind on my audiobooks right now, so I don't think I want to do the audio. I plan to get it from the library.

I've been avoiding darker stuff because the world is dark enough right now for me that I don't want to add some to my recreation time.

Assuming I can get this from the library next week and make some good progress on it while I'm home from work (every other week) I'll give it a shot.

It's pretty long though and last month's pick took me nearly a month while I enjoyed it. I think this is about 250 pages longer.
4170 Our July pick will be Black Leopard, Red Wolf by Marlon James.

Let us know what you think about the pick.

4170 Oops. I thought I made a June thread. I think I might have just locked the May one.

Thanks Sheila!

4170 This is all good stuff that should probably be moved to its own thread so this thread can be kept for the Quick Burns.

4170 Yes. Though it was on hold even before the Corona virus because the actor playing Spike got injured.
