36119 I'm sorry, Mary. I'm going to say no to one name authors. I don't think their initials can be alphabetical.

36119 Read a book where one of the characters makes, serves, or eats soup. Quoting the text is not mandatory, but please let us know what kind of soup. "Soup" also includes chili, stew, or chowder.

36119 The NFL is starting its 103rd season on September 8th.

Read a book set at least 75% in any of these cities which have a professional football team: Washington D.C., Green Bay, Los Angeles, New York City, Chicago, Seattle, Pittsburgh, Kansas City, San Francisco, Buffalo, Denver, Las Vegas, Indianapolis, Dallas, Tampa, Detroit, Baltimore, Miami, Houston, Philadelphia, New Orleans, Jacksonville, Cincinnati, Atlanta, or Cleveland.

There are a few teams that claim entire states or regions, so if you read a book set in North Carolina, Tennessee, Arizona, Minnesota, or New England (Maine, Vermont, New Hampshire, Massachusetts, Connecticut, or Rhode Island) you can claim this task! Please include where your book is set when you post.

Please post any questions or comments about task 10.9 in this thread.

36119 I love books where the house is essentially a character.

Read a book where a house could be considered a character.

For an example book, The Haunting of Hill House has the perfect opening…
“No live organism can continue for long to exist sanely under conditions of absolute reality; even larks and katydids are supposed, by some, to dream. Hill House, not sane, stood by itself against its hills, holding darkness within; it had stood for eighty years and might stand for eighty more.”

For ideas, please see these two lists:

Please post any comments/questions/suggestions for task 10.8 in this thread.

36119 In honor of St Francis of Assisi, patron saint of animals, many churches hold ceremonies to bless animals on his feast day of October 4. This has led to World Animal Day which is observed on this day.

For this task read a book that contains animals that talk or is from an animal’s point of view.

Examples would be Charlotte's Web or The Art of Racing in the Rain Books that do not work Marley and Me: Life and Love With the World's Worst Dog or Old Yeller

36119 Let’s colour a bright season for ourselves! Read a book whose title or subtitle contains any word (except “and”) from this list of Crayola Standard Colors: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of...

You may discount possessives: for example, “Robin’s” is in the list, but “Robin” also works. Otherwise, the match must be exact – so “Robins” (plural) would not work.

Note: The page goes on to show lists of “Specialty Crayons”. These do not count for this task.

Please post any questions or comments about task 10.5 in this thread.
