35559 Drama in our house with my 10 year old admitted to hospital last night. He is happy, but had a temperature and a spreading rash. So IV antibiotics while they do all kinds of tests.
My husband was with him last night and we have just done the swap so I am here today and hoping to hear from a Doctor this morning that he can be released.

I did see Atmosphere by Taylor Jenkins Reid on the shelf at the library earlier yesterday in the "read now" section (you can't reserve them or extend your loan but you still get 3 weeks to read it) so I have also brought that with me :)

Nice! Isn't Kobna Holbrook-Smith a joy to listen to? I love his voice

35559 Mad Love by Wendy Walker

This was good fun, and quick, and...
Julia Whelan.
No need to say more, surely

35559 I finished
Mad Love by Wendy Walker
which isn't great for points (audio only so just 10) but I felt like something a bit silly and it worked for my audio challenge. (Mostly, if I am honest, I read it as I love everything Julia Whelan narrates ) 😁

Next up is Stone and Sky (Rivers of London, #10) by Ben Aaronovitch which I've been wanting to read since it's release but had to wait for my husband to finish it first ;)

35559 I also loved A Walk in the Woods: Rediscovering America on the Appalachian Trail. There’s something about books that cover long walks that has always appealed to me!
Fictional, but I read You Are Here last year and really enjoyed it. And of course the Harold Fry books 😊

35559 Hooray! The tick is staying :)

35559 Thanks for keeping us so organised Mel!

Now I really need to think about what I will start when the challenge begins. The book I was thinking of I had suspended my hold with the library and when I unsuspended this week they said it would be another 2 weeks until I can get it. Hmph. 😁

I'll see what else I need to tackle for my closet challenge to keep ahead of that

I feel your pain!

I don't normally mind my books being used wherever. But if you nominate to read for a specific, and difficult, task and then someone else's book is used it is pretty frustrating. Especially if that book should have been thrown in mount doom, but you persevered!!

35559 Nice - thanks MelanieJoy!

It is so weird. Julia and I also can't switch on notifications for our thread in the captains group so it is kind of like there was a point in time that GR decided for new threads you just need to guess when they are updated 😂 Hopefully is resolved soon!!

35559 Loving everyone's answers! My notifications aren't working for this specific thread which is a little on the highly annoying side.... so glad I popped in to check out the activity ;)

About to start my work day but then I will have a think about my first book for wheels. Probably Assassin's Apprentice as I need to read it for my closet challenge or fall beind

35559 Hello! wow here we are... wheel 10. Doesn't feel like that long ago we started the first one :o

🌍 Where are you journeying from?

Sydney, Australia. Currently into Spring and heading into Summer. Both my favourite times of year :)

💖 A book, author, or genre that’s always “preciousss” to you?
Anna Karenina and Wuthering Heights were always my precious ones.
More contemporary preciousss would be Jonathan Strange

🍫 Optional snack check: if you were bringing second breakfast for the road, what’s in your pack?

Dark chocolate. And diet coke. 😂

🧿“Who is your favourite villain… and why is it obviously Me, Sauron?”

lol. I don't know actually. I am a bit of a pollyanna and get uncomfortable with villains. lol! Did make me think of Vicious though. I like anti-heroes

💍 Which unread book on your shelf whispers to you most like the Ring?

All the Terry Pratchett Discworld books I am yet to read!

🌋Which books/characters did you feel like throwing into Mount Doom?

I have a whole shelf of "gave up on", but the one that comes to mind is Jamie from Outlander

🥾What’s your favourite real-life walk… and why is it clearly the Road to Mordor?

We have bushland near us that we walk though to get to the kids school and the local train station. It was a well-trodden path in lockdowns thats for sure!!

🎒 Would you survive the Tongariro Alpine Crossing carrying Sam’s cookware set and Frodo’s the Mighty Lord Sauron's Ring?

Probably not. I don't even know I could do the crossing full stop. haha

⚔️ If you needed rescuing, which literary character(s) would you choose would you choose the Nazgûls, the Balrog or the Orcs?

The Nazgûls always scared the crap out of me. So did the Orcs. So I guess it is Balrog 😁🤐

Oh I didn't even realise it was out (living under a rock lol)

But I need to get to Assassin's Apprentice (Farseer Trilogy, #1) by Robin Hobb for my closet challenge
