Ok, I haver finally started!!Has taken me a bit to get into it, but I think I am starting to understand the threads. Will post properly when I am done with Part 1
@Catherine - yes I noticed there is another! I'm glad as when I read Priory I was disappointed there weren't more books set in the world ;)

Sounds so interesting!!
I went to China pre Olympics, I think around 2002. It was an amazing, and eye opening, experience!! I have heard a lot changed with the Olympics, but when we went there was really no English around so we had a guide the whole time. Went around quite a large part of the country including down the Yangtze before it was damned. There were a number of "ghost cities" which were the evacuated towns which would be under water by now.
My world is a bit chaotic at the moment with work just killing me as I am going to a conference and then holidays next week which means everything just smashes up against itself and I feel like a headless chicken.I'm still reading but not getting to a whole lot probably until this time next week when I'm in Brisbane for the conference so will have nights to myself
Richard wrote: "Oh great! My great-grandfather was Chinese. I know that only makes me 1/16th Chinese, but it's still a big thing in my family. Recipes handed down, etc."Nice!
We live in a big Chinese community (c.90% born in China or Hong Kong) so we get a lot of recipes passed to us from friends and neighbours :)
Making one of our favourites tonight which is a pork and rice dish which just all goes into the pressure cooker and is super dimple

So many good books on that list and Little Women is a fantastic classic
I’ve only read Priory and that was when it came out so I’m trying to catch back up in my head on the world
Lisa - (Aussie Girl) wrote: "Is that the same Toby Schmitz who was on Black Sails, as Jack Rackham, the pirate? If it was he was great in that."Yes that’s him.
He did years with Bell Shakespeare
And was also in boys swallows universe most recently
I finished
which ended up better than expected by the end.
I had started it for the south american continent task, but assigned it to born in brazil instead.
I have now started
which I have heard is a mind ^&%!#$. I always loved Toby on the stage (though boy he has aged - I guess that much Shakespeare ins't good for you? 😁) so super curious about this book.
Also started my June chunkster
Elisabeth wrote: "I just watched Joanna Lumley on the Danube on the ABC (Aussies). She’s following the river from start to finish and went to Vienna in this first episode. To my surprise she went to the Habsburg’s C..."Love her shows!
The current book I’m reading for the South American task… the author was born in Brazil. May use it for that as it could be more difficult to find the born in verus a book set in a continent
