Wonderful!
@Mods can we please have an informal read for The Hundred-Year-Old Man Who Climbed Out of the Window and Disappeared by Jonas Jonasson for June 15th?

Probably in June or July?"
I could do July."
Okie dokies. What about July 1st for Informal?

Yes Nicole. The mods will take away points if we don't justify ourselves regarding with classes. The more information, the better! Just in case we need to defend our choices.
That's a good idea Nicole. I started a spreadsheet as well. I have so many books stocked up for this challenge, I was starting to get confused as to what on earth was going on

Quidditch season begins soon. May 26th to be exact. Try-outs for the Hufflepuff Quidditch team will begin shortly.
We are looking for 3 Chasers, 2 Beaters, 1 Keeper and 1 Seeker to start us off in the first match. If you are not selected in the first match, you will have a chance to play in the following matches.
Please let your captain/co-caption know which position you are trying out for (can be more than one), your availability (just one match, two matches, only July, all matches, etc.), whether you're a speedy player and how your stamina (how many books/pages you can read in a day).
Thank you.
Go Hufflepuff!

Maybe from now on, if people can keep track of two things:
Letters - letters we can use for spells (title, author/s, narrator/s, character names)
Objects useful for classes
E.g.:

- Letters
A (title)
K, B, (Author name)
G (Series title - The Goddess Test)
A, H, C, O (Characters - Athena, Hermes, Cassandra, Odysseus).
- Objects on cover: Leaf, Water, Blood, Trees
- Classes:
Care of Magical Creatures, Feather/s as a description of the creature.
Divination, Book that has prophecy/vision occur (Cassandra is a prophetess)
I know it's a lot and can be draining so you don't have to. It would save us time from searching for all of that when we start with classes.
I'd say try and do the above if your book doesn't fit in the Obscure spells or Unforgivable curses.
You can post it in the Tonks Books Read thread so Halli and I can refer to it.
I don't want to make reading not fun and R.L. stressful so I will understand if you don't do all that

Hi Jan, are you still keen for Hundred-Year-Old Man...?
Or anyone else?

I see your point Apoorv. I haven't come across the Gods of Olympus being portrayed as teenagers, so I do find it a little interesting in how they are.

I get what you're saying. It makes sense that they sound like teenagers when they are teenagers in a book for young adults.
I guess what bothers me is the lack of their actual age showing through clearly. I saw it from Hera and Demeter, which makes sense as they're Titans as well.

I should have said this before, I've been learning about the Greek Gods since Grade 1 in Primary School. I'm Greek, I've gone to Greek school and every year they'd be mentioned in my lessons somehow. I've been obsessed about them and for a period of time, I thought they were real. So, my expectations are high and thoughts are probably harsh. I apologise if this upsets anyone.
Hermes - I agree with you all that Hermes' disease is out of place. Healing is Apollo's thing, so it would make sense if Apollo had that disease.
If you open you're mind and squint your eyes, I guess you could see it like this:
Hermes is the trickster god, the god of messages, travel, thieves and graves. In the ancient days, he'd need to be in top health to send message after message to all the gods, demigods and others. If he had the skin eating disease then, his delivery performance could fall (doubtful as he's an immortal god). Perhaps the disease is affecting him like that now but I haven't seen evidence of it (unless I missed something).
I don't think we've had much time to get to know Blake's representation of Hermes. He doesn't seem that important right now.
I'm reading too much into it. :/
Poseidon - I don't even know what's going on with him... He's gone insane for a God. To me, he's not really Poseidon.
Zues - WHERE IS HE?
Athena - I have begun to accept that she's a teenage version of Athena in a Y.A. book, but I don't like it.
@Deanna I agree. She's been a goddess for yonks, she's brimming with wisdom of all those years, she's a warrior goddess - this should be enough for her to assess danger at all points including getting in a car. Yes, she's human and is much weaker, but I don't think it's possible for a god to change a habit so in-grown just because they're a human.
Odysseus - Yay for a hero being included! He better get over his want for Athena and vice versa.
Cassandra and Aidan - Not much happening there still.
Artemis - I found it appropriate at how she's going to die. It doesn't make it any easier to know that though.
So far, I'm 3 stars enjoying the book. I think the representation on the Gods are a bit sloppy so far. It's not gripping me thoroughly yet.
We're still missing information from Zeus, Hades, Hephaestus, Hestia and Dionysus. I wonder how Dionysus is suffering?

Should I fill out the spreadsheet with what I can do? Or are we letting captains decide where everything fits?"
For now there's no strategy.
But, what I think we should all do is choose which class you would prefer to work on.
For me:
1. Arithmancy
2. Herbology
3. History of Magic
Once we have a general idea of what everyone would like to do, we can target the books we read to fit in the most wanted classes. If they don't fit, we can try and use it for something else.
