STATUS UPDATES

House cup - Hufflepuff is winning with 29248 points

Merit - 7th (Buddy read points)
Services - 11th (Book of the Month points)

I say we are doing pretty well!

TEAM UPDATES

We're about halfway through August which means that Tower Teams VI is almost over! I for one, have enjoyed this challenge and being on a team with you all.

As promised, here is an update on how we are going so far (apologies for the delay in this update. I've been furiously busy with real life commitments and Quidditch).


*Spreadsheet*
Okay, so up to row 692, all the books we've read have been allocated. There's about 5 books that I haven't been able to put anywhere which I've highlighted in light gray (in the official spreadsheet) and I'll keep it like that so we know they haven't been allocated anywhere.


Characters
We are nearly done with. There's only a few letters that haven't been allocated. They are:
○ E (x 5)
○ I (x 1)
○ U (x 1)
○ Y (x 1)

Tasks
I think we can complete book 1. Only task 2 has not had any books allocated in it.

We are nearly done with book 2. We can start planning the remaining tasks - 1 and 5

Book 4 - we could start planning but I think we should leave it.

Characters and Tasks
I think that all allocated books should be read first. Try not to be too ambitious with your reading and allocation. We don't have that much time left!
Characters should be fine to finish without any left-overs.
Tasks I think we should focus on finishing the books we selected - 1, 2 and 4. So, that means, the chosen tasks in the chosen books should be read first (as we are doing). Then the remaining tasks for those books should be read next. Once that is done (if we get around to it and you guys are keen), we can select another book and three tasks for it to read.


Maze
The house maze is still going on. Talia is doing a fantastic job reading plenty of books for it. Join in if you have the time.


Quidditch
Quidditch has finished! Slytherin scored the most points but Hufflepuf caught the snitch. Amanda did an amazing job reading chunky books as keeper.

Karishma was an amazing beater! She's gathered quite a few points for a team, so well done Karishma! I'm intrigued to see all your books into the spreadsheet, Karishma!


Book of the Month
starts today at the 3rd BOM for August. We could also use this for 'E' in characters.

I found Rusty Knob which is young adult. It's on Kindle Unlimited for $0. If someone is able to read it, then we can use it and we shouldn't have to move the books in the task around

Hufflepuff Seeker

Spectacular Seeker Sophie reaches out and grasps the snitch in her hand! She stays on her broom. The snitch is caught. The Hufflepuffs are go wild! Badgers go wild! The wild goes wild! The bleachers nearly break from the 'Puffs happy dance

Twisted Up is completed!

Why don't we start this Sunday? It should give us time to select a name, start a planning/completion spreadsheet, select books and put them into the spreadsheet, and learn the rules!

Also, It would be easier for me to remember to check in and read a book before the work week starts.

I won't be able to finish the first book until the end of next week due to real life

Hufflepuff Keeper Player swap/Line change

Letting you all know that Tina (me) will be replacing Amanda as Keeper for at least 48 hours

I'd say No to articles, Brooklyn
Amazon/Kindle should have some free books if you are stuck with finding some.
iBooks also has free young adult books too (they're mostly the same as Kindle)

Teri - Don't worry about the maze! Talia and I have been reading books for it since Quidditch started. Which has actually worked well. When everyone is asleep, I'm awake due to my timezone and can read books without having to be quick about it!
And Amanda can replace me (if she can) if/when I replace her as Keeper for Quidditch.

It's actually good that we have the rest of the team helping to fill out characters and the tasks!

I did notice though Teri, that for Task 3 in books 1, it says "Each book must be read by different team member". I think we will need to replace the first book that you've put down - The Stranger Inside. Someone other than Talia, Zee and Teri will have to read a book that ends with 'Inside'

I know a few of you have read the Kate Daniels Series.

The 10th book is the 3rd BOM book for August. It starts on August 28th.

4 other teams have volunteered to be a discussion leader so I think we'd have a good change at getting a spot if someone here volunteers.
If you're keen, try and volunteer before August 20th.

If you're worried about what questions to ask, I'm sure we can help you think of some.
