I do think it was interesting to see how people could react in times of a water shortage crises. I do think it's a possibility that it could happen due to climate change but not for a few decades or a century... I just hope we don't let it get to that point.

DQs - Part Four17. Henry’s character has turned out to be a bit of a conundrum to me. What do you think has contributed to him using and manipulating people the way he does? Were you surprised at the end of the book when he was being praised as a hero? Do you think Kelton and Alyssa should have spoke up about his dishonesty?
Probably his family but also he is on his own and needs to lookout for himself. I was surprised that it happened but not that he took credit. I think they should have told Alyssa's mum!
18. Alyssa finds out that Kelton spied on her back in 8th grade and in this section, she slaps him on the face hard. Did you think her behavior was appropriate given the amount of time that passed? Would you have handled it differently?
I think her behaviour was right. He shouldn't have done that. I'm not sure what I would have done. I can't relate
19. Hell and High Water—In this part our band of survivors experience all kinds of ‘hell’. Henry leaves his friends ‘high and dry’…betraying them…getting them almost killed...again. Kelton shoots the two brothers who were attempting to rape Alyssa and manhandle Jacqui and Garret. Alyssa displays her worst self with the mother of the two men, leaving her to perish in the fire and Alyssa almost ‘mercy’ kills her brother. What were your thoughts about any/all of these circumstances? Were the situations realistic? What do you think they could have done differently?
I think they were realistic. I just couldn't fathom even thinking to mercy kill one of my siblings.
20. A New Normal—When a person goes through something ‘traumatic’ you are bound to be affected in some way…this chapter gives us a glimpse of how the characters have been impacted/changed. What character’s change had the biggest impact on you? Have you ever experienced an event that changed how you see or do things? Do you think it takes something dramatic to get people to ‘wake up’ and make necessary changes?
Yes unfortunately I have. But I think everyone has whether it was a good thing or a bad thing. Climate change is an example where my behaviour is changing to help preserve the planet
21. Do you think anyone is to blame for the way this disaster unraveled? Could it have been diverted?
Honestly I didn't understand this completely. The blame was left with the officials who turned off the water...
22. Will this story impact how you use water? If so why, and what will you plan to do differently?
No I don't think so. I already do what I can with water. I tell people off all the time about keeping the tap on all the time. We had a drought here with water restrictions a while ago, and those behaviours, thoughts and advertisements for 'Every Drop Counts', has stuck with me for years since. I know what I can be doing better

Day 3 DQs11. With the introduction of Henry we see a similar situation as the McCracken's, with Henry holding a stockpile of water and his neighbors in desperate need. Why do you think Henry's neighbors didn't attack or steal what they needed from him? He was only a teenager after all and he was alone.
I can understand keeping water for yourself to keep you alive. I think he was being incredible selfish keeping it all to himself AND charging ridiculous things for the water. I think it's being they didn't have the energy and could not afford to attack him.
12. What did you make of Henry? Would you have allowed him to join your group? Do you think they would have made it as far as they have without him?
I wouldn't trust anyone in time of crises. I wouldn't want him with me but I also would still have the need to help people. They probably wouold have been kay with out him. As much as he helped them, he also caused them a lot of trouble.
13. In times of crisis people will do just about anything out of desperation, which we see with Hali in the Target parking lot. How do you think you would handle something like this?
I didn't think she'd do it. Honestly, I don't think I could. But for some people, I would consider it unfortunately
14. I was shocked to learn that Jacqui had left a bottle of the antibiotics for Herb and Daphne. Did this change your opinion of her?
Yeah I knew she was a good person from the start. She just had to develop a hard shell to protect herself
15. We meet Water Angel's group, who are civilized and working together to survive. Henry compares it to communism and doesn't think it will last. Do you agree that it's only a short-term solution and that they will eventually turn on each other?
If things get desperate enough, I think people would turn on each other. You're not you when you lack basic human necessities.
16. Trust is a big issue that comes up again and again. Do you think Jacqui and Henry have proven themselves to be trustworthy? What about Alyssa and Kelton (despite the past drone incident)?
Henry, No. Jacqui, Yes. I think Alyssa will forgive Kelton eventually. They all seem to trust Alyssa more than anyone else (apart from Garrett)

I’ll do a completion post for sports genre books within 24 hours.I think dry might be finished on Saturday for me. I like the book but I think I just need to take my time with it. I take things literally so I don’t go into tap out mode in real life because I’m reading it.
Ooooh I can do any audiobook tasksI think I'd struggle with3. How can we know that an author planned for 3 and then wrote more?
I think Charlaine Harris and Richelle Mead planned for less and then wrote more but I don't know if they planned for a trilogy....

Day Two: Part Two Questions6. The power plant vignettes at the beginning of part two are intriguing. We have the activist assuming the water is destined for the wealthy, the water guy just trying to do his job, and the plant manager trying to keep the power on and take care of his workers. With which side did you sympathize?
All sides. I can understand the distribution of water for those who need it most. I just don't agree with the government having a higher priority for water than children and mothers.
7. Why do think the author has both of Alyssa and Garrett's parents go to the water desalination center at the beach? Do you think the events on the beach are realistic or over the top?
I thought they were going to get their dad and Garrett go get the water. But I get that they made the parents go together rather than with a child and parent. They would want to protect their children from the unknown and keep them somewhere where they knew they'd be safe to return to them. I'm not surprised by what happened at the beach. I think the sight of abandoned phones would be terrifying. What would you do? Taken phones and answer calls, look for your parent's phones or just leave?
8. Kelton states, "Things are gonna fall apart pretty quickly now... Critical services shutting down, unreliable communication--any minute now it'll all give way to urban Darwinism." Do you think the view is too pessimistic, too optimistic, or on track? Why?
I think he is spot on as it has already started to happen.
9. Jacqui comes into the story in this section as a new main character. What do you think of the addition of her character? Have you changed your opinion of either Alyssa or Kelton now that we have reached the halfway point?
I like her as a new character and that they're adding someone else's perspective into the mix
10. I have a few problems with the mob scene and the events as they play out at Kelton's house at the end of the section. Did the sequence of events seems reasonable to you? Why or why not?
I thought she should have gone back for the bag. But something had to get them out of the house.
I was surprised with the scene with the brother. Damn that would be horrible.

Day One: Part One1. Living in southwest United States, I'm very familiar with droughts and water rights, so this hits close to home! Do you enjoy dystopia novels that have an element of truth to them or do you prefer pure fiction? Why or why not?
I think I like an element of truth so it's real and relatable But if it's too realistic, I get worried that it might get into my head and make me paranoid. I'm already thinking, 'omg how can I stock up on water? I need to learn how to find more water in case this happens to me too'. We've had water restrictions before so I know what I can do to save water.
2. Kelton discusses three types of people, sheep, wolves, and herders; do you believe humans truly fall into these roles during challenging times?
I honestly didn't pay much attention to Kelton and the sheep and wolves theory. I'm kind of over people putting everyone into categories so I purposely skipped those bits.
3. What do you think of Kelton and Alyssa as the MCs of this story so far?
So far, so good. I do like the little sections showing us strangers POV.
4. Near the end of this section, Kelton's dad tells a neighbor, "as if your lack of foresight is my fault", how do you feel about this, do you agree?
I kind of agree with Kelton's dad. My mind is more self-preservation. Family first, friends second, others third. I would have given water to the man for his wife and baby, but not to the other guy.
5. I'm enjoying how the vignettes add a little something different to the story, the reporter and the family at the airport offer a different lense about the events, what are your thoughts?
I enjoy them too! It's interesting to see how other's react in this situation.
If the person you’re messaging for the lava challenge declines, I’ll be willing to join in! Molten would be perfect for me!
