35559 I agree completely, Leslie. Most of her books have that irritating ability and from the books I've read Golden Trail (The 'Burg, #3) by Kristen Ashley was the worst. And those characters whisper a lot. Oh, I forgot to mention the best thing about MM - there was only a little "whispering" involved.

Melissa, I finished Motorcycle Man (Dream Man, #4) by Kristen Ashley yesterday and I really liked it. The first half of the book, I was like: Get AWAY from him!! When she was thinking of breaking up, I was completely cheering her. Tack was horrible in the first half. The second half picked up and I was able to buy into their relationship. And from my recent KA books, I think this was the best edited of the lot, in the sense that it was cohesive and I didn't feel like there was a lot of un-needed stuff in the book. I think I surprised myself by how much I ended up liking the book. :D

35559 I finished A Bed of Spices by Barbara Samuel yesterday and it was just awesome. I loved it! A sad, sweet love story with a unique setting & Time combination. Now I need something less intense to read..

I'm thinking Motorcycle Man (Dream Man, #4) by Kristen Ashley - Even though I'm not a biiig fan of KA, I need this book for another challenge. Or something else.

35559 I finished Shadow and Bone (The Grisha, #1) by Leigh Bardugo today for another challenge. It's a YA PNR/Fantasy lite with settings based on Russia. It was ok but I didn't enjoy it as much as I wanted to. I can't put my fingers on the exact reason though..

I finally got around to starting A Bed of Spices by Barbara Samuel and Leslie, you're right on the recommendation. The prose is so lyrical, the setting is so different from the usual England and the characters... they are darn good. I couldn't put the down at all. Thanks for the rec!

35559 Catherine: If you want to check out the books our "enemies" have read, then you have to go to their "view books" link. Instead of going to each team's challenge, you can use this spreadsheet where there is a link next to each person. Let me know if you encounter any errors. I'll be happy to help :)

35559 Chris - I'm not giving up.. Not with you and Leslie giving favorable reviews. Hmm.. If I can, I'll wait till September. I do have the shiny book syndrome taking over me now and then. But I would highly prefer reading it with someone. Short of it - we'll talk again in September.

Leslie, I agree with setting up a thread. I have asked in the Read It With Me thread to set up one for us. It should be done soon.

35559 Gwendolyn, it was not me who read the book. I think it could be Rebecca?

35559 Oo, it's ok. I've been putting it off just thinking about the number of pages. But I really like Japan and I'm very interested in Samurais n stuff.. So basically I don't if/when I'll pick it up.

35559 Oo, I have no idea. I haven't actually read the first two. The people who recommended to me just said Shōgun by James Clavell which I'm assuming to mean it's a standalone.. Though my OCD is starting to kick in.. Maybe Leslie can help as she's read the first one and Shogun but not the second.

For FoG, I'll ask LK to set us up a BR with start date as Aug 9. We can always change the date later on.

35559 And you don't get lost in your TBR?

35559 Catherine - nuh-huh. No way I'm going to believe that. I'm very easily tempted. My combined TBR (standalone & series) is at 500+ now. I don't want that to increase even though it is.

Leslie - We'll start July 1st? Earlier is fine with me too as long as you are able. :) The number of doorstoppers that I'm reading makes me immune to numbers like 1000. Anything less than 500 makes me think it's a short book!

I just remembered this book - Shōgun by James Clavell . It's been recommended SO many times. Anyone want to buddy read that? It's 1200+ pages and I would really love to BR.
35559 Thanks for setting up, LK!
35559 Captain Cupcake, do you mean puzzle #46? #43 is crossword..
