I re-read
earlier today. It came in at the library after a long, long wait and the second came in just a sec earlier. I'm tempted to re-read the second
as well. I like Eve & Roarke's romance.I'm halfway through
with Leslie & Chris and thinking about reading
. It is due at the library soon.
QOTD: Do you mainly read thin books, medium length books or do you read a lot of chunksters 500 + pages? Or is it a mixIt's mostly a mix but I'm probably averaging about 400+ pages with atleast 2 800-1000+ pager thrown in every month. Chunksters are really a time-investment but their enjoyment factor can't be denied :)

OK, I finally caught up. I finished Part 1. Some thoughts: (There are MILD SPOILERS ahead)1. (view spoiler)
2. The battle with the Northmen was interesting in many aspects:
- It really highlighted the difference between Mahon & Brian. I wish Brian would imbibe some aspects of a diplomat.
- Brian's study of the other war generals - I was impressed when I first read about and I was still impressed.
- The conversation between Mahon & Brian regarding the wounded: I'm torn in between. I can't exactly accept Brian's decision. I wish there was a middle ground.
- The conversation between Mahon & Brian when they are back at the Castle from the battle: that was really illuminating.
3. And the Aw! moment - when Brian hands over the 3 Norse Babies to a couple for them to raise. It was good to see he still has his conscience.
And Gormlaith is kicking ass so far. She might be my favorite h in the book so far. Even Fiona is paling in comparison to her but I can help but wonder how/when she'll turn up again.
So, up till this point, with the latest developments of the battle, I can't say I'm liking Brian much. I was rooting for him at the start but his decisions at the battle aren't something that I can stomach easily. Oh, I still admire him but like? I still have half the book left to go so that might change.
One of our members read
- an awesome book with lots of illustrations/drawings. Can I know if it'll work for this challenge?
@Gwendolyn: We could just do it as a Tower Teams Event. Anybody interested can join. It'll be fun and we can have more inter-team interactions. As for using it as a challenge for all teams - It's hard to see it work as not everybody'll be interested in doing it. But we could have it as a game for everybody who participates instead of just WBY. Whoever gets the most points, gets to brag to be the biggest HP Fan :)If you all like the friendly inter-team idea, then we could just invite all the teams.

Baby is doing great! She was just not cooperating for the scan. I had to get it done 4 times before it was acceptable.I just got past the scene of (view spoiler) I really felt for her.
@Leslie - Glad you're enjoying DA. @Karen - I've heard the same about Kate Morton too. I will try her once soon hopefully.

I think I'm at 30% ish so I'm not clicking the spoiler yet. I had a doc appointment that lasted ALL day yesterday and I'm still recovering. I didn't manage to get any reading done at all. *Sigh*
@Leslie: I'd be interested in hearing your thoughts about
. It's one of the hardest first book in the series. The characters just talk soooo much. The rest of the series just gets better though.
Ah! I knew I was forgetting something. I didn't include Nalini Singh because I remembered she was a Kiwi. Forgot about KB. I tried one of Kate Morton but I had to DNF because I couldn't stand the main character. I must try another of hers. And you should try Melina Marchetta's contemporary YA first.
Karen wrote: "Thanks, I will give Melina a go when I next head to the library!
Now Karina is a Kiwi, so don't be making her Australian or she may get offended... lol! But I haven't read any of her or Sarah Maybe..."

I sort of understand but still. It reminds me of this Emma Holly book I once read by mistake (view spoiler) This was long back and it really turned me of explicit scenes and anything labelled Erotica.I agree - the scene was realistic. The book I finished today -
also had a similar first-time scene. I haven't read anything after I finished that book. I'm at 15% but will catch up to you tomorrow.["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>
She was on my radar for years before I picked up one of her books last week -
. I only regret I didn't pick it up way earlier. You should try her, Karen!I started reading some Australian authors mainly because I wanted a different setting. Now I have three favorite Aus authors (Sarah Mayberry, Melina Marchetta, Karina Bliss).
@Leslie - Good luck with the planning!I just finished
and it was so, so good. I was a mess by the time I finished it. I also re-read the best parts again. I really didn't want the book to end! Melina Marchetta has a real talent at writing such books. She's definitely become an auto-buy author.

I had a early night yesterday but I started it today. I'm just at the part where Brian meets Fiona and there was this (view spoiler) I'll post the exact passage later.
We are having a nice bit of break till July 7. From July 8 - 21, it's GAME-ON with Leather Jacket Black. We are going to read 100 books in two weeks!
@Nichole - Regarding
- I'd say it's easily the weakest book in the series so far. There were so many sex scenes there that weren't needed at all. I remember reading when it came out and it was so frustrating.
Leslie, yeah, let us know. One of my favorites as well.Leslie wrote: "I am reading
in July because of recommendations on this thread. I also want to read Dream Man. I've heard good things!"
