35559 @Leslie: I'd be interested in hearing your thoughts about Demon Angel (The Guardians, #1) by Meljean Brook . It's one of the hardest first book in the series. The characters just talk soooo much. The rest of the series just gets better though.

35559 Ah! I knew I was forgetting something. I didn't include Nalini Singh because I remembered she was a Kiwi. Forgot about KB. I tried one of Kate Morton but I had to DNF because I couldn't stand the main character. I must try another of hers.

And you should try Melina Marchetta's contemporary YA first.

Karen wrote: "Thanks, I will give Melina a go when I next head to the library!
Now Karina is a Kiwi, so don't be making her Australian or she may get offended... lol! But I haven't read any of her or Sarah Maybe..."

35559 I sort of understand but still. It reminds me of this Emma Holly book I once read by mistake (view spoiler) This was long back and it really turned me of explicit scenes and anything labelled Erotica.

I agree - the scene was realistic. The book I finished today - Jellicoe Road by Melina Marchetta also had a similar first-time scene.

I haven't read anything after I finished that book. I'm at 15% but will catch up to you tomorrow.

35559 She was on my radar for years before I picked up one of her books last week - Saving Francesca by Melina Marchetta . I only regret I didn't pick it up way earlier. You should try her, Karen!

I started reading some Australian authors mainly because I wanted a different setting. Now I have three favorite Aus authors (Sarah Mayberry, Melina Marchetta, Karina Bliss).

35559 @Leslie - Good luck with the planning!

I just finished Jellicoe Road by Melina Marchetta and it was so, so good. I was a mess by the time I finished it. I also re-read the best parts again. I really didn't want the book to end! Melina Marchetta has a real talent at writing such books. She's definitely become an auto-buy author.
35559 I had a early night yesterday but I started it today. I'm just at the part where Brian meets Fiona and there was this (view spoiler) I'll post the exact passage later.

35559 We are having a nice bit of break till July 7. From July 8 - 21, it's GAME-ON with Leather Jacket Black. We are going to read 100 books in two weeks!

35559 @Nichole - Regarding Archangel's Consort (Guild Hunter, #3) by Nalini Singh - I'd say it's easily the weakest book in the series so far. There were so many sex scenes there that weren't needed at all. I remember reading when it came out and it was so frustrating.

35559 Leslie, yeah, let us know. One of my favorites as well.

Leslie wrote: "I am reading After the Night by Linda Howardin July because of recommendations on this thread. I also want to read Dream Man. I've heard good things!"
35559 I have it ready to go on my kindle. I'll start maybe tonight.

35559 I finished Dream Man by Linda Howard and Shards of Honour (Vorkosigan Saga, #1) by Lois McMaster Bujold today. The latter was very good. Cordelia is such an amazing character. I couldn't help feel for her. I'm definitely picking up the next book in the series.

Now I need a fluff book next to offset SoH.

35559 I also had a library run today and I picked up Envy by Sandra Brown The Shadow of the Wind (The Cemetery of Forgotten Books, #1) by Carlos Ruiz Zafón Something Wonderful (Sequels, #2) by Judith McNaught Jellicoe Road by Melina Marchetta By a Thread (Elemental Assassin, #6) by Jennifer Estep The Rake by Mary Jo Putney The Lions of al-Rassan by Guy Gavriel Kay

I also kept seeing Shards of Honour (Vorkosigan Saga, #1) by Lois McMaster Bujold on the library. 4 copies!! Guess that's my library's way of telling me to stop procrastinating reading it.

35559 I finished Finnikin of the Rock (Lumatere Chronicles #1) by Melina Marchetta today. The first 3/4th of the book was soooo good I couldn't put it down. The last 1/4th sort of let me down. It didn't capture my attention as much I'd have liked it to. But Melina Marchetta is fast moving on auto-buy authors. I'm really liking her writing. Works for the Eyes challenge
35559 Eni, I *think* they'll have the bouncy cupcake only when all the puzzles in the Spot The difference (this round, it's 12) is completed. If there's even one missing, you won't be awarded the bouncy. Please correct me if I'm wrong.

35559 Karen, I'm with Oo. I'm laughing at your 160. To put in context, I have 160 series that I need to start. ;) Now I console myself looking at people who have 5000 - 10,000 books in their TBR.

35559 Chiming in to agree about Jasper Fforde. I loved, loved Shades of Grey (Shades of Grey, #1) by Jasper Fforde
35559 Me too!
35559 LK, it's Alley from Magenta Mix-Up. It was a mistake.
