35559 Danielle - if you can do "the Hierophant" then I definitely think we should boon the self-published. I checked through all my books too and did an Amazon search and couldn't find a single one.

35559 Thanks Kari - We filled that goal just before you posted. :) So close! Sounds like a crazy book though. Any chance it has the phrase "the Hierophant" in it?

I'll update the goals post right now.

Thanks Donna. It was worth a shot. At least someone is reading something that will work even if we don't have it right away. You have intrigued me with Buffy vs Fairy Tales. :) I may have to get that series someday - when I become independently wealthy and can buy all the books I want. ;)

35559 I don't have anything that will work for that goal, but a couple of Donna's sound promising. Could Revenge of the Castle Cats be resistance to a regime or could Five-Seven-Five be a rebellion? What do you think Donna? Or maybe Kenéz' The Lost Hero?

If not, Faith is reading Red Rising which should definitely work.

An non-returnable one? A baby that the "billionaire bachelor" or the "army doctor" or the "lonesome cowboy" bought on sale?

35559 I was searching through free Christmas books on Amazon this morning to see if maybe something with a fireplace or elf or reindeer or sleigh would pop up and I discovered two things. 1) There is a lot of free Christmas porn out there - including erotic gay prison Christmas porn, a subset that is not as small as you might think and B) There is something called a "forever baby" and I'm not sure how it differs from a regular baby, but I don't think I need to know. :D
35559 Chapters 3-4

I truly don't understand why so many novels have everyone miserable. Is happiness so hard to have? To write about? I suppose most people find it more interesting to read about pain and sadness than simple contentment, but I just don't get it. Happiness shouldn't be an impossible goal. I was different and bullied as a child. I still made friends. My parents taught me to stand up for myself and they stood up for me if things got too tough. They had to work hard, but they also made time for things they enjoyed. They didn't have to abandon their children to be happy.

I truly think people should have to pass a psych consult and a parenting course before they are allowed to have children.

35559 Hey Donna and Sarah-jane - sounds like you both go all out for Christmas. That's lovely. My family celebrates pretty low-key. We have a bunch of birthdays in December and a bunch in January, so sometimes it's easier to just celebrate Christmas on one of those days. This year my sister has a 12 hour window on Christmas Eve so she is forcing everyone to her house for dinner. ;) I work until dinner so I'll be rolling in with all the work done but I suspect cleanup will fall to me. Also she likes the traditional turkey dinner, when I host at my house we eat anything but turkey. Yuck! :) After dinner we generally take a walk through the cemetery to see the ice candles and visit my dad (if it will even be cold enough this year, with our crazy weather we might have the first non-white Christmas in history) and play board games until the kids finally go to bed. Christmas Day is for relaxing and visiting and then Boxing Day my store is the only one open for 80 km in any direction, so I definitely keep busy.
