35559 i also like the book cap because it seems like in the challenges without caps a lot of teams end up reading twice the number of books they estimated when they signed up and i feel like this helps keep that in check and there isn't such a huge gap in points between first and last place.

i guess the other option would be to do page caps instead of book caps but i'm not sure if that would even work, maybe if you had people estimate how many pages they read a month instead of how many books when they sign up? could definitely make for an interesting challenge of people trying to coordinate how many pages they're reading and getting it as close as possible without going over though lol
Dec 18, 2021 05:51AM

35559 i just finished my last one so i'm officially done!
Dec 16, 2021 06:18AM

35559 i might be able to squeeze in one more U book after i finish the one i'm reading now, depends on how busy it is at work and whether i can just do inventory and listen to a book or if i have to deal with customers lol. i should know by tomorrow though
Dec 15, 2021 05:18PM

35559 so i finished night watch earlier but the U character never actually showed up in that book so unfortunately can't actually use that one for U. just started thud though and she's already in that one so should have one more U book before the round ends.

did we get a ruling on this? i'll probably start a new book tomorrow so if this counts towards U i'll prioritize it

35559 if a character's name is angua von uberwald does that count for a U for the last name or a V? bc i could read a few more discworld books if it counts towards U
Dec 04, 2021 08:41AM

35559 i finished my last book this morning so i'm done for this round
Dec 01, 2021 03:27PM

35559 just realized i'm actually reading a book now where the author has a Z last name. was gonna use it for W for the title this round but i'll wait til next round to finish it
Dec 01, 2021 01:32PM

35559 at least it has an H in it so i can finally finish the history of hell lol Z and Q is rough though
Nov 28, 2021 11:45AM

35559 i'm definitely slowing down a bit, mostly bc the only series i actually want to read i have to keep waiting to pick up the next book so it's been exactly six months since i last read it lol. i should finish the two i've got on the spreadsheet now and then definitely one more, probably two more though. cross your fingers for a word with an A, H, or T for the last round or else i won't be able to finish the print book i started for round 2 and never got finished!
Nov 20, 2021 08:55AM

35559 i just added one last short one so i'm done for this round
Nov 17, 2021 03:36PM

35559 so is our word brown AND we're supposed to find brown covers as well? so much brown lol

i always vote anyway just for fun but i agree that generally you can look at the nominees from the first round and go 'oh well that one's going to win' because really it's just like 'who's the most well known or hyped author this year'
