35559 #37 Operation Pedestal The Fleet That Battled to Malta, 1942 by Max Hastings by Max Hastings 2,5 - 3 stars

Once again, it was not the actual book, but the author who had been on my TBR for some time and while overall this book got very high ratings, it didn't manage to engage me in the least and I struggled to finish it.
I'm not sure if it was myself (reading at a bad moment) or the writing that failed. It wasn't a bad book, I guess, but simply that I have read a lot in this genre that were so much better (for me).

I haven't read this yet, but from what I gather the characters live under the sea and amongst the coral. Does that count as "visit a coral reef"?"

Sorry KayLynn, I thought I have posted about this, but apparently no. Which may be my brain serioulsy affacted by another heatwave. For a blissful month there was no problem whatsoever, but again we are having 37-40 C (98-104 F) lasting until Saturday apparently, so....

Anyways, this is OK for the reef task if you feel like reading it. :))

I usually manage to keep my distance, so for the reread it was my disappointment of not loving the book any more that was the deciding factor, but the other one probably gave me the final push.

35559 STOP IT, ANDY!!!

Some of us are drinking coffee at this time of day, you know. 🤣🤣🤣 (and now snorting it through our noses while laughing, which is NOT the sophisticated way!)

Not quite as good as previous ones but still a good one, and a worthy ending to the series.

I'm gonna have to re-read the rest of the series again before I get to this one 😆"

This was my intention as well and then I reread book one and I found that I absolutely disliked it on reread, so I have abandoned the project and removed the last book from my TBR. (view spoiler) 😪

Do you maybe have a book that has a higher page count so takes a bit longer to finish (until 17 Aug)? :)

That could be a solution. :)

It works for me, but would like Sophie's & Fiona's opinion for a final decision.

35559 One of our lovely Mods, Cat, has created some further fun stats (based on the state of play on 5 Aug) concerning the countries we read for Mini 1 on the sheet.

https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/...

Based on this, we are the 2nd most widely-read team country-wise (that is, we don't have many duplicates). 🥰

"Widely read teams (i.e. those who haven't duplicated countries much) include:
Eiffel (88% of their countries have been different)
3P (85%)
CNT (82%)"

35559 I checked the Arbookfind websites as well as audible, but the German edition is only a bit over 2 hours long, so its no good. :(

It's OK, Claire. I hope you liked it. :)
