I agree. Amazing!"

Thank you, Hobbitses. Apparently Fruit Tarts are not the way to the Randomisers cold-cold heart, but we shall not give up trying. 🤭

I'm going to post the story, then.

The tag is minimum 10×, but can be more.

35559 Brown enough, I think, but feel free to use it for Mini 6 if you prefer.

Maybe it's safer there. 🙂
35559 DQs Day 4 Ch 30-39

1) After everything you've read so far - what genre would you call this? Were you expecting it to veer so close to horror, or is that just because I hadn't read the first book?
Well, it may be a Fantasy-Mystery? But I think it' such a great and smooth mixture, doesn't feel forced or crude at all.
I'm avoiding the Horror genre in general and at all costs, but despite some gruesome elements here, this book doesn't strike me as horroristic at all. :)

2) What do you think of Ana’s meals? There seems to be a big focus on them and I'm trying to figure out what the author is trying to tell us.
Now they sound horroristic. :D If the author tried to tell us something with this, then he was very clever burying it under tons of food.

3) Why do you think he’s killing people, what is the ultimate plan? Is anyone else fascinated and completely in the dark?
TBH, no idea. I mean, I have 2 theories (view spoiler), but I'm sure neither of them will keep up till the end.

4) Do you think we will meet Pyktis by the end? Do you think he is a stranger or secretly someone we have already met?
Once again... .no idea. We could have met him pretending to be several people, maybe. And then we may have not met him at all.

5) Do you think it's a good idea to move the marrow? Do you have an idea of what happens next?
Something catastrophic??

Yeah... I was hoping for a U-break, but no such luck! But at least there are some variety in the other letters.

I have so many great history books about the 1400/1500/1600s ... but OF COURSE they don't work for the spellout!

35559 🎄 A Long-Expected Tongariro Xmas Party 🌋

OR What happens when the Fellowship of Tongariro tries to host a quiet Christmas party?
Spoiler: 💥CRASH! BOOM! BANG! 💥

❄️ It was a fine winter’s day, clear and bright. Word had gone out that the Fellowship of Tongariro was hosting their First Annual Christmas Feast, and every hobbit, elf, and mildly confused reader from nearby Goodreads lands was invited.

🎪 A great pavilion had been set up near the base of Mount (Ring-a-Ding-a-Dillo-)Doom, draped with ribbons, wreaths, and tinsel. The Christmas tree, decorated with red berries, had been planted in a beer barrel “for authenticity,” courtesy of the Green Dragon. (The decorations committee insisted it was charmingly rustic. The rest of the team suspected it was tipsy.)

🥟 Long tables were spread with meatballs, pierogi dripping with butter, roast meat & parsnips, salad, freshly baked bread, cheese, and enough fruit tarts to feed a small army ... OR at least to try and bribe the Mods and appease the Word Randomiser.
🍸 A separate table groaned under the weight of drinks: champagne, prosecco, hot apple cider and sherry. There was a dedicated table to martinis —shaken, not stirred— which no one could quite remember ordering, but everyone kept drinking to help them cope with whatever word they were getting for Rounds 3, 4 and 5 and to forget the words of Rounds 1 & 2!

🎺 When all were fed and flushed with good cheer, the evening’s entertainment began. The jazz ensemble struck up a merry tune, and a spontaneous dance broke out, though half the dancers were actually just trying to reach the drinks table. Later, there was a game of charades, and someone played Christmas songs on a violin.

🕯️ Then came the lights switch-on: the murmuring quieted, and the host rose to make the evening’s toast. They stood upon the table and declared:

📜“My dear Readerses,
Books are our lembas bread and miruvor water, and this challenge our journey across the mountains of madness and merriment!
May our TBRs be long, our snacks plentiful, and our Wi-Fi connections strong!
I don’t know half of you half as well as I’d like, but I’m proud to have read beside every one of you, especially through the Us, Is, and Zs.”

🍻 There was a great cheer, glasses were raised, and someone shouted, “Merry Christmas!”

🧙‍♂️ And then a tall, cloaked figure appeared, their hat slightly singed.
It was the Wizard of Wheels. With a flick of their champagne glass, they sent a spark soaring high into the night.

🎡There was a boom, and then a gigantic spinning wheel of fire blossomed in the sky above! It spun faster and faster, showering the heavens in glittering letters —U, I, O, X, Z, Y— the very bane of every spell-out challenge.

👏😱 The crowd erupted in applause ... or maybe they screamed in dismay (especially those who got showered with Us). Someone swore they saw the letters rearrange themselves into the word “SUCCESS.” Someone else swore it spelled “SNACKS.”

💚 Either way, it was the perfect ending to a most extraordinary celebration.
By all accounts, it was the best party since Bilbo’s birthday.

35559 So.... I have been giving quite a few thoughts to a Mount (Ringadingadillo) Doom Christmas Party. I have just finished The Fellowship of the Ring and I thought I would write a version that follows in the footsteps of Bilbo's Birthday Party. 😉

I will be posting it soon and you are welcome to suggest updates, other options, etc.
