35559 It feels like we tend to get more points when we have longer words. The BOM This is How it Always Is which starts next week should work for LGBT since I believe it's about a Trans girl. I'll be reading that for sure.

It may hit a bit too close to home for you in that case. It was already on my tbr, so I just moved it up in priority for the extra points.

35559 Just started the BOM Dry. Is this book tagged "horror"? Because it should be. I feel like I'm going to have a panic attack reading it.

Sure. I didn't post earlier because I thought it was mentioned earlier in the thread that my comments were entered in the spreadsheet last week.

35559 Looks like we're in need of books that work for I, so I'm going to pick up a short one.

As we start deciding which book we will use for each word, can we get some crossed off or made clear that it's "covered"? It's a bit exhausting to search each book for all 71 words and it would be nice to search for a shorter list. Just an idea.

35559 Day 4 Questions - Aurora World Tour to End of book

15. This section begins at the start of the Aurora World Tour. We have the blue bus (Billy) and the white bus (Daisy). Which bus would you choose to ride on, and why?

It would have to be the blue bus because I couldn't be around the kind of crazy parties Daisy would be having. Also wouldn't want to be on the bus with creepy Nicolo.

16. The book had four strongly described females: Daisy, Camilla, Karen, and Simone. Which were you the most drawn to?

I was actually drawn to Daisy, Camilla and Karen for different reasons. Never felt like I knew enough about Simone to have strong feelings.

17. What did you think when you found out the name of the author? Do you think that given who the author is, maybe some of the answers in the previous sections of the book were changed or incomplete?

There was a scene where Daisy went to Billy's hotel room and talked about wanting to get clean, and then I felt like the story skipped to the next morning and Billy was given the news of Teddy's heart attack. Nothing was mentioned about what happened during those hours and I wondered if they may have slept together. When I found out who the narrator was, I was more suspicious.

18. In the Epilogue, we learn what happened to each of the band members. Did any of these "endings" surprise you, or did they each turn out as you expected?

I loved the endings and how everyone seemed to be living a pretty good life. Was happy that Karen stayed true to herself and didn't end up giving up her dreams and have kids. I loved her line earlier when she said that maybe if someone else would give up everything to raise a kid and she could just continue with her life and go home at the end of the day or on weekends, then she might want a kid also. But maybe not.

19. I thought the "One Last Thing" at the end (the email from Camilla) was brilliant. What do you think happened with that?

I loved that and it showed how much she loved Billy. Daisy and Billy seem to have given a lot of thought to their time together and I would love for them to reconnect, if not romantically, at least in friendship and maybe singing and writing together.

20. What did you rate the book and why?

I rated it 4 stars. It was really different from most books and I really liked it. Didn't like it as much as The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo though.
35559 DAY 3 QUESTIONS - AURORA

9. History is full of rock and roll bands with creative differences and disagreements between big personalities. This story is presented with interchanging POV's to highlight and give insight into this. What do you think of the opinions of each of the band mates and do you have any sympathy or empathy for any band mate in particular? Do you think that any of the animosity or disgruntled feelings are justified?

I love the different POVs and I feel sympathy for all of them. I especially feel for Daisy, as she making so many bad decisions and I just want her to take better care of herself. Eddie is annoying. I think with such a famous band, the egos will always get out of control and if Eddie can't accept that he will never be as famous and powerful as Billy when Billy is lead in the band, then he should just leave.

10. The premise of the story is revealing the reasons that Daisy Jones and the Six imploded. At this stage of the novel what do you think happened? Disagreements over creative differences or some spectacular tragedy?

I suspect something sexual between Daisy and Billy, and/or Billy relapsing.

11. Juxtaposed between the complicated relationships between Billy, Camila and Daisy, Graham and Karen seemingly are flying under the radar. Opinions on this and where do you think it is heading? Who do you think holds the power in this relationship and is it heading towards a Happily Ever After or acrimonious break up?

Karen is much more casual, so she won't have her heart broken if things go badly as Graham will. I think if they've been together this long, she might have stronger feelings than she realizes, but I don't know if it will be enough for them to have a happy ending.

12. Married man, troubled single girl, intense emotional connection between work colleagues = big trouble!! Discuss.

Yup, it's a bad idea. It's understandable that with the level of soul-bearing that songwriting involves and the long hours alone that attraction would develop, but to act on it is not a good idea.

13. As I get further into the book I find the rapid fire conversation and the intense interactions draw me deeper into the characters and the story compelling me to keep reading on. Are you enjoying the book in the same way? Do you find the story original or feel that you have read or seen it all before.

I like it. It's different, and excellent on audio.

14. Mod Karen has revealed that the rights to this book have been optioned by Reese Witherspoon to make into a TV drama series. I think it's going to make great television. Who do you see in the starring roles? Established actors or is a star waiting to be born!

I would love to watch this. It would have to be a musical, like the movie A Star is Born. I hope that they take young powerhouse singers and really play up the soundtrack to the show.

35559 Day Two: First -The Numbers Tour

5. During the making of Daisy’s first album, I appreciated her quote, “Being given things versus earning them. I was so used to being given things I didn’t know how important it is for your soul to earn them”. Do you think that Daisy will continue to think this way and work hard for the music she wants considering her increased drug use and drinking?

I'm hoping that the fact that she wants to write and be in control of her music will prompt her to get her drug use under control. Right it seems like she's headed for disaster and things will only get worse if she doesn't wake up to her problem.

6. During the studio session for Honeycomb, Karen sums it up best as indicating that Billy wrote it as a song of security, and Daisy changed it to a song of insecurity. What do you think of the continuing duality between Billy and Daisy? Will it be good or bad for them moving forward?

I love them together professionally. I think they have a magic on stage which could take them to new heights, but I really hope that they keep their relationship professional only (although I'm not holding my breath). They would be an absolute disaster as a romantic relationship, especially with Billy's sobriety.

7. Daisy is changing the dynamic of The Six when she joins the band
and states, "You’re only in charge of me as much as I’m in charge of you." Do you think this equality approach is going to work?

Equality is tough, because it requires someone with the power to give it up to share with someone with less power. It's hard to convince someone to give up what they have in the interest of "fairness". I think if a romantic relationship does happen, then Billy will soften to Daisy and they will have more of an equal partnership.

8. I'm a complete sucker for stories that have lyrics in them, are you enjoying the lyrics in this story? Do you have any favorites so far?

Seems I'm in the minority when I say I always skim or skip song lyrics and poems in books. I'm listening to the audio so I'm not skipping the lyrics, but they seem kind of cheesy to me.
