I'm ok with BEIGE again. The few books I have planned will work for the new word. If everyone wants to spin though, it's fine with me.

DQ Day 1 1. This is a different type of book than I usually read. The interview formatting is interesting. What do you think of the formatting so far? Is anyone having trouble following it? I am reading it, but it reads like a podcast transcript to me so far.
I like the formatting. It keeps things moving and I think audio is a great way to experience it.
2. A main focus of the book seems to be the agency of the women in the music business. The two quotes that stuck out to me were “ I am not a muse. I am the somebody,” and “men often think they deserve a sticker for treating women like people.” What are your thoughts on this theme and quotes?
I love to read about ambitious, interesting women not taking any BS from men who want to keep them down. We still have a lot of problems these days with equal treatment (looking at #metoo and the way rape victims are treated in the courts and by the media), but a lot of the sexism is more internalized and isn't as explicitly stated as 50 years ago. I loved both of these quotes.
3. Daisy’s parents are absent and extremely unobservant. She is very young when introduced to drugs, alcohol, and sex. The interview style presents what is really horrific in Daisy’s description of parental neglect, drug use at a very young age and statutory rape, as far as I can tell, in a fairly detached fashion. Anyone else react this way to this section?
I feel like probably so much has happened in her life since then and so she thinks of her childhood as a very different part of her life. She mentions that she has gone through a lot of therapy, so maybe she tries to deal with her horrible childhood there and has gotten to a place where she can be more objective about it, or she is repressing her feelings and can't let her emotions out because she's afraid of how it will upset the balance of her life.
4. The end of this section focuses on Billy and Camila. What do you think of their relationship and the choices that Camila makes? Do you think Billy will stay sober?
Poor Camilla. I'm sure she didn't necessarily feel "ready" to have a child, especially with no support from Billy, but she acts like an adult and does what needs to be done. She can't just walk away from the situation and come back to a welcoming family whenever she decides to get her act together. I feel like Camilla will have to deal with a lot of sadness and poor treatment from Billy. He may end up sober eventually, but I don't have much faith he won't have some relapses first.

I've started the BOM Daisy Jones & The Six. It's really good on audio. I'm going to take my time with it though. Once we know our word for next week I'll note down what the book works for in regards to characters/audio narrators.

My audiobook from Scribd just has the table of contents as Chapters 1-15. Does anyone know how the breakdown works in terms of chapter numbers?
I'm working this weekend and it's really busy here (I do testing for Cord Blood and PostPartum mothers and certain times of the year are much busier than others.) I have Monday and Tuesday off though, so I'm looking forward to spending some time in the backyard if it isn't too hot.

Not sure if things can be moved around or if a spot can be saved for my book, but I'm reading a non-fiction that I will definitely finish today (only have one chapter left) and it only works for the letter "I".
