Kristie, I do the same thing! And I go to the library a lot, so books with due dates get pushed ahead of books I own, even if I bought the book because I really want to read it and like the author.
I'm trying to weed down my shelves, because the local library is really good, but there are many books I don't want to part with.
Sometimes I check out the ebook and the paper copy from the library, so I can read the paper one at home in my comfy chair but bring my tablet if I want to read outside the house.

Well, it doesn't really matter; there's a glitch in the spreadsheet so that for some people the # of books read is really high; there was some speculation that it was linked to wobble somehow. So I was testing that speculation to see if the players on our team who wobbled were the ones where the glitch showed up. So far there the correlation is weak (I did wobble, and my numbers now are right, although they started out wonky).
The link is
https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/... (I pulled it from message 2 of our team thread). If you look at your name in the Overall Tab, it looks it's calculating the points for your completed book correctly, and getting the pages right, but then it says you've read 125 books, which is a bit much for the first week of the challenge. Four of the members of our team are listed as having 100+ books read already.
But no one is that worried since the points seem to be working correctly; it's just that column that is glitching. Experts are poking at it to see if they can figure out where the numbers are coming from. I am *not* one of the experts, so I have no idea.

I hear you Audrey Jane -- I'm also making a huge effort to read from my shelves for this challenge. Although I'm also going for the quick reward of short books instead of the point-rich thick ones. I probably need to work on my attention span.
Well, lucky for us we've got tougher readers on the team -- hi Claire!
I just remembered a YA author I like (Norah McClintock, she writes mysteries with mostly high school aged protagonists) and I'm suddenly hungry to read all the books I found in a used book store that have been languishing on my TBR bookcase (I actually have several of those). So I'm on my second of those.

Yay, Avid Reader!

I don't think the crazy Books Read matters much, except to make for some funny spreadsheet reading (600 books but only 542 pages read :-)).
You guys know today is our Official Day?
May 4: May the Fourth Be With You
May 5: The Fifth Strikes Back

I wish I had written down who had the inflated books read count; I don't know if Karen got fixed like I did or if she never had the problem. Karen, did you look earlier, before your first book?
You and I both started with small books, but I can't imagine why that would matter.

Quick question -- Abir, Carolyn, Nicole, ShannonP and Vanessa: were you all on Wobble? We've got a glitch on our spreadsheet where it shows you all as having read over a hundred books (Shannon is at 600!), although the page counts and points are correct for books actually read for Tower V. I also had a big number, but somehow after my first book was entered for Tower it reset so now my count is correct.
But no one else seems to be getting this magic fix. I'm asking over at the Captains group, and that's where the idea that wobble is involved came from.

I finished my short stories, and also discovered the "duplicate book" option, which has charmed me. I never noticed it before, and it's sometimes too easy to accidentally duplicate books instead of moving my "want-to-read" to "currently reading".
Thanks team!

And thanks to Audrey Jane for pointing out the duplicate option -- I had never noticed it before. I cleaned up my shelves a bit :-)

I put a link to the Books Read Thread in one of the first "reserved" posts so it's available no matter how chatty we get -- it's in note 6.

The other chain in the Olympic Title Relay said that titles had to be two words, but I don't think there were any rules about how many letters had to match (we matched some 3 and 4 words front/back). This one says 5 letters, so maybe the rules are different?

Kristie, I think you didn't set the "date read" on
A Good Marriage.

Shannon, I think your book is not marked on your Tower Shelf.

Go Shannon! Rachel got us our first points.
Well, actually I read a little kids books, so I did that one first because it was easy, and then I tackled Rachel's high scoring fat BOM book. We are currently in 4th place! I don't plan to watch our rank very often, but it was fun to see our points show up.

My library is good in that they eventually get everything, but sometimes not in time, so I rarely make the BOM. I checked out some suggestions for next month, so if I get lucky I'll be ready!
Rachel finished our first book, so I'm going to go see if our spreadsheet is working right.
