35559 Erika and I are on the same team as well 😃 and she hasn't started either. I'll stop back to chat more and hopefully you can, as well, Tammie.

I'm done too. Wow - not what I was expecting. (view spoiler)

I really liked Isaac! I also liked how (view spoiler)

Well done Marie in finishing! I'm still ploughing through! I am really enjoying it, but at the same time I have a line of books I need to read lol

Same here, Karen! I try to get a little bit in every day, but soon I'm going to have to power-read/listen to get to the end - my overdrive borrow expires soon!

There are so many intricacies and details and people that I sometimes get a bit lost and have to go back (especially with reading other books in between). I think when I'm all done I'm going to get the Cliff Notes on this book for an overview of what all happened!

my spring bowling league is over for the year! We had fun; but didn't place in the top 3. I did manage to win most spares for our short season! Woot woot!"

I'm glad you had fun Laura. And congrats on your accomplishment!! Is there a summer league?

35559 Hey @Danielle and @Sassafrass - there is a buddy read for Fish & Chips in the Back Room starting on 6/15. I know you guys have both read it, but since you guys liked it, it might be a good way to get some extra BR points if you want to re-read. I just finished Cut & Run and am starting Sticks & Stones to get caught up - I can't believe it's taken me this long to start this series!

35559 I'm reading Dark Lover (Black Dagger Brotherhood, #1) by J.R. Ward which has vampires and could be used for DADA.

35559 Info on the Triwizard Tournament

Hi Newts
Sonia posted this in the Leaky Cauldron today - I don't know what it means yet, but just wanted to make sure we had all the info as it comes out. (BTW, the mix she's alluding to is that she asked people what their preference was in playing the tournament and many people said a combination of house and team.)

Well... the mixed sounded intriguing. The more I look at it, the more I liked it.

So that's what we are going to do.

SPOILER ALERT FOR GOBLET OF FIRE. READ AT YOUR OWN RISK.

If you recall, tri-Wizards had 3 quests: dragons, mermaids and maze. Or, if you want to put it like this, courage, lost, and everything goes LOL

What will going to happen is this: MAZE and final quest, will be done BY HOUSE, and will be from July 1st to July 31st. It's going to be this massive thing, with all houses starting in one corner, and moving to the center, where the Tri-Wizard Cup is. Remember what happens next? Yes, the cup has a surprise.

If you think so far was fun and crazy, you're in for a treat!

The road to the maze will be BY TEAM. RL has been crazy lately, but I'm going to try really hard to have it all out on the weekend. It will be lighter, at your own pace. It won't be a crazy amount of books like classes or spells.... we don't want teams to burn or give up.

I like the idea of having teams qualifying to play maze BUT I don't want to add unnecessary stress/strain, so that's still on the thinking phase.

It's sounds very interesting and creative - stayed tuned!
35559 I've finished Chapter 20.

The first round of the Triwizard tournament was interesting. (view spoiler)

35559 description

Hey Newts! I hope everyone is enjoying the challenge so far. We were not given any additional team members, but that's okay! We're making great progress on our classes. Here is what we still need:

Arithmancy - DONE!!

Astronomy:
*2 books with celestial terms in the title (I think Sassafrass is reading one)

Care of Magical Creatures:
*1 book for Classification
*1 book for Uses

Charms:
*Book with a broken heart on the cover

DADA:
*2 Dark Arts books (book is about a dark arts character)
*5 Defense books (book has word in the title that can defend against the dark art) (we've got werewolf, vampire and witch to defend against right now)
Example (thanks Danielle):
Fae in book / iron in title
Werewolf in book / silver in title
Demon in book / salt in title
Vampires in book / sun or sunlight or stake in title
Witch in book / fire in title
**note - the word just has to defend against the creature - it doesn't have to kill it**

Divination:
*3 ARC's that have not yet been published - Erika said she could read these books??

Herbology:
*1 book with dirt on the cover (currently checking in the captains group for a book we've already got)
*1 book with a brown cover over 500 pages - I am reading A Game of Thrones, but if anyone else wants to read something that fits here, go for it!

History of Magic - DONE!

Potions:
*1 book with a cauldron on the cover
*1 book with scales on the cover
*2 books with yellow covers
*1 book with turquoise cover

Transfiguration - DONE!!

In the next few days I'll get our spells updated to see what letters we still need.

Reminder - Buddy Reads get us an extra 30 points (40 for the HP books) and it's a fun way to interact with other players
https://www.goodreads.com/topic/group...
BOM's get an extra 20 points:

We've got the Triwizard Tournament and more Quidditch coming up.

So keep up the reading - you're doing a great job!! And if there is a task you want to claim, just post a note in this thread. Any questions, please ask! You guys are an awesome team!!!!!
