I'm surprised at how high the ratings are for this book. My expectations were pretty high, which I guess is why I'm so critical.

There are parts that the good parts of the characters come through and I'm trying to give the author a break since this is her debut novel. I feel bad just picking things apart! :-)

I wondered about Caderousse as well. There are so many intricacies going on. It seems like during the preceding years Dantes must have done a LOT of research into these people. I've finished Chapter 48 and (view spoiler)

I saw two books I thought might make an interesting story - Darkness on the Edge of Town and In The Absence Of Light, but we've got a lot to choose from.

We didn't get a response the last time I put this out there, but we've got some new players.......
Does anyone want to take a shot at coming up with the essay for History of Magic? We need to write a short story/essay using the titles of books. It can be just a few sentences long, but needs 7 book titles. We can all work on it together as well, putting together pieces.
Any book that isn't highlighted on the spread sheet is available.
