Hey Newts!! How's everyone doing - it's so quiet here.

I'm up to Chapter 112. The Count (view spoiler)[ is showing some regret at his revenge after Villafort's son was poisoned by his mother and Maximillian's close call. Otherwise, it seems like his plan is playing out as he anticipated. (hide spoiler)]

Finished! I'm in agreement (view spoiler)[there wasn't nearly enough character development for Malone - but glad we finally learned his name. Also, I'm wondering why Father Tim decided to leave? That was not explained. Maggie frustrated me through most of the book with her impulsiveness, jumping to conclusions, verbal diarrhea and her fixation on getting married. I'm glad her mom mellowed out a bit and that Jonah and Chantal kinda got together and that Malone came around, but I don't see myself reading any other books in this series. (hide spoiler)]

Spying on Malone and overhearing his conversation with Chantal, jumping to conclusions, breaking up with Malone, reading something into Father Tim's conversations, impersonating her sister to talk to the priest......is she 12? I'm in Chapter 15 and it's not very priest-like (view spoiler)[ for Father Tim to bad-mouth Malone. I haven't looked at the spoilers for Chapter 19, so I don't know what's coming, but it makes me wonder if he knows Maggie is seeing Malone? (hide spoiler)]

I'm up through Chapter 14. Poor Maggie isn't having much luck at dating! (view spoiler)[ Although I do hope things work out with Malone - he's one of the few characters in this story I like. (hide spoiler)]

I can't believe how Maggie's mom (view spoiler)[ talked to her, berating her for owning a diner and not being more like her sister - that was so sad! (hide spoiler)]

I'm up to Chapter 97 and things (view spoiler)[ seem to be getting a bit out of the Count's control, although the families of his enemies are falling apart due to his prior manipulations. I was surprised at what happened with the duel with Albert! And then Valentine's poisoning. And now Eugenie is getting ready to marry Cavalcante and I see financial disaster all over that! If there is anyone else who MAY be available for at least a 24 hour period, we could really use more reserves. If you sign up as a reserve, your name goes on the list. Then, if a regular player needs to take a break or has an emergency or for any other reason can't read, a request goes out to the reserves to see who can fill in. If you can't do it, no problem. If you can, then great! So fellow Newts, please consider if your schedule allows - it would be a great help! (Please know I'm not trying to pressure anyone - I just want you all to know you don't have to commit to an extended speed reading time to play.)

Just finished Chapter 8 where Maggie went (view spoiler)[ on her date and gets stood up. I couldn't understand why Skip was such a jerk - he's the one who dumped her!! And then to be so passive aggressive at her. I loved what Malone did, though! (hide spoiler)]

I haven't watched the series, so I'm going into this blind. All the characters are somewhat confusing. I'm listening to the audio version, although I do have the book on my kindle so I'll probably both listen and read.

What a beginning! Yes, (view spoiler)[ Waymar seemed very self-important although he was brave - although a pretty gory end to his life! (hide spoiler)]

Chapter 3 - Daenerys (my kindle has chapters in the table of contents, although not on the actual start to the chapter). Wow! (view spoiler)[I hate her brother!! And I can't believe she is given to a man at age 13. This is a brutal story! (hide spoiler)]

Yay Erika! Thanks for volunteering for Quidditch. If anyone else is thinking about being a reserve, please sign up! We have to have the team set, including all reserves, before it starts. Also, another rule change is that anyone on the team can read for the first Quaffle (a book is read for each letter in the word Quaffle before the game can start.)
