I'm really wondering what Brooke (view spoiler)[ did in Ella's room! I'm thinking she planted something and Ella is going to get accused of stealing or else drugs? (hide spoiler)]

I'm glad Ella (view spoiler)[ was able to get saved by her "brothers" from Daniel's assault. I knew there was going to be something with him from the way Savannah tried to talk to Ella. It was funny what they did to him, but I'm seeing that might backfire on Ella before the book is over! (hide spoiler)]

These boys are just drifting (view spoiler)[ along with no supervision or guidance from their dad. I can't believe he would put Ella's room near the boys and think nothing is going to happen amongst teenagers around the same age! Then, the fights and it sounds like Easton has problems with past drug use and gambling? Very sad. (hide spoiler)]

I've been listening to this book on audio today and I'm up to Chapter 22.

I don't read too many books with MC in this age range - just for challenges! 😁 I'm not into the teenage drama and angst. That said, this book has been holding my attention. Although I have been doing a lot of eye rolling. teeeheeeheeee

Ella (Ch 1-2) - (view spoiler)[ I don't know much about the foster system, but at age 17 would she be forced into foster care? I had to admire her for finding a way to get an education, although I feel bad for the way she had to do it. (hide spoiler)]

Ella (Ch 3-6) - (view spoiler)[ Wow - what a change in Ella's life! It seems pretty farfetched that someone would give her that much money to stay in school though. I also wonder why Callum's son's are so hostile towards Ella? (hide spoiler)]

Callum - (view spoiler)[ I'm wondering why he feels so strongly about taking care of Ella since his friend (Ella's dad) is dead? (hide spoiler)]

One of the things I don't like about the New Adult books is the amount of mean people in them - both kids and adults!

I'm through Chapter 7.

I wish I had this book on audio - I don't know how to pronounce the Gaelic? Celtic? Irish? words and I struggle when reading them. I find myself either fixating on how to pronounce the word, or starting to skim over stuff.

It was really creepy (view spoiler)[ when Mac saw the Gray Man in the pub. But then it's frustrating when she goes to Barrons for answers and then won't believe him. Although, what he has to say is pretty fantastical! (hide spoiler)]

@Lexi - (view spoiler)[ yes, she does seem very young. But she's from a small town, has never traveled and her sister was been murdered in a foreign country. I feel bad for her, but I'm not as far along as you are, so that may change! (hide spoiler)]

I'm with you Cathy. I loved Quinn and (view spoiler)[ although he did cheat, I'm also glad he didn't sleep with the other woman. I was really amazed that he quit his job so that he wouldn't be around the other woman - I still didn't think Quinn realized the extent of Graham's love.

My eyes were leaking while reading Graham's letters, but no ugly crying here. The letters were touching rather than really sad.

I was thinking about this book last night - there really was very little character development - Quinn's character was pretty flat with her inability to have a kid her real trait. There were a couple of mentions about her work, but I couldn't even remember what she did. Even the "then" parts didn't show a whole lot of her.

I still enjoyed it, though, and I'll read another book by Hoover. (hide spoiler)]

Does anyone have any fun plans for the weekend? I can't believe it's already Friday!

I'm finally done. This book started out very slow for me and I had a hard time getting into it. I switched to the audio version around chapter 7, which was better. As much as I hated Umbridge, once she started taking over things at Hogwarts, it got much more interesting.

I was so surprised (view spoiler)[ that Sirius died!!!! Poor Harry. And finding out more about why he has to stay with the Dursley's was interesting but another blow to Harry.

There seemed to be a lot less focus on Ron and Hermione in this book. They seemed like side characters rather than MCs! (hide spoiler)]
