There was a book my mum read to me and my sister growing up. She never got to finish it and we lost the book in a move. The book kept calling me throughout the years. It literally took me years to find out what the name of the book was and to get my hands on an actual copy. So I read it again and...it was a total disappointment :(. Sigh. I can see why I loved it so much as a young girl, but it just didn't have the plot I had hoped for.
Any of you have had a similar experience with a book?

It is very well done and sticks closely to the book which actually makes it rather difficult t..."
I heard so much buzz about it. Then when I was in the US, the costumes from the series were on display at Rodeo Drive. I became more interested and got the book for free. I loved it and was appalled by it at the same time. It has so many layers and is just so current, it's freaky. I found it very confronting, but it had me wanting more the whole time. I went days not being able to read it, because it was too much. I had a very visceral reaction to the book :) . An absolute 5 star that I will read again, and I don't really re-read books.
I saw the Handmaid's in Sydney on the train. A rather weird image while I was still very occupied by the book :)

Wow, that didn't take us that long! Whoohoo. Congrats team!!!

I've returned from the US and listened to an audiobook provided by the airline. Motive by Jonathan Kellerman (who I met again on Saturday!!). 336 pages

Bought 2 books for 50c at the 2nd hand store and a brand new book for $10 at B&N.

Btw way lovely people, I'll be offline for about 24 hours. I'm flying off to the US again in about 12 hours (still not packed of course). I hope to finish You either overnight or on the plane. I am NOT enjoying this book and don't think I will get near the sequel unlike some of you. I found a massive Barnes & Noble bookshop within 5km from my hotel so I might just have to fill my suitcase when I get there... :)
