Your mission today Sheila is to CLEAN THE FRIDGE.

This has got to be one of the nastiest jobs ever! I guess it has been a long time since I did a deep cleaning of the fridge ..."

Wow Sheila, well done. This reminds me of when as a student we had to clean the communal fridge. The worst find was bread that had turned into black water and was 3 years old.

I remember I got hooked on Harry Potter when book 3 came out. I never wanted to buy into the craze, but then my sister bought the first book and said I should read it. I devoured the books and couldn't wait until the next one was out. At the time I didn't read in English and the translations took another year, so it forced me to start reading it in English.

Waiting is frustrating!

I've always wanted to visit Ireland. My husband is from London and we went on a holiday the last time we were there. We "only" made it to Wales, but I could listen to the Irish radio stations. I could see Ireland over the water, I was so close...

Enjoy your stay, Lesley!!

This was completely over the top and none of the characters are relatable. I am not sure why this book is/was so popular.

I'll have to read it now too.

35559 Just a heads up, my GR is acting up big time. It doesn't load probably. I have contacted GR help desk to find out what it could be, but I might not be so active.
I am flying out for the last time to the US in a few days, so I'm rather busy squashing 2 weeks of work into 3 days...

I just found the audio version of it in my library. It's not available until July, but I've reserved it. Thanks for the recommendation!

No, but I think I will have to now. Karen just gave me another title idea by this author. I was given this book and I just can't rave enough about it. I had to put it down and start again, I was just so sad for the little boy. I lost my mother to cancer 10 years ago this August, I was an adult. It was just so real. Yeah, I don't have the words for this beautifully written book

I am so glad I didn't buy it in the US. I got it from the library when I got home. It would have been such a waste of money. I've answered the questions for days 1 and 2, btw
35559 Day 1 questions:
1. What do you think about the POV? Does it draw you in or push you away? It's not quite in 2nd person, but it's much more direct than most 1st persons, even ones that break the reader wall. Do you feel Joe is talking to Beck, to you the reader, or both -- are you supposed to identify as Beck?

I really needed to get used to this type of writing, but it's okay now.

2. Many times books are set in first person to make it easier to emphasize with the narrator. Do you have sympathy for him? Do you feel you understand why he feels the way he does? Would it be easier or harder if you saw him from outside?

no sympathy, I find him a self-absorbed person.

3. Is Joe an unreliable narrator? He's clearly delusional in some ways; how deep do you think that goes? Do you trust him that he's really doing everything he reports?

No I think it's pretty clear that he is interpreting what's happening from his own self-absorbed POV.

4. What do you expect from this book? What made you decide to read it? Do you expect it to have the beats of a thriller, or does the adventurous point of view change your expectations?

I wanted to read it as I haven't read a BOM for a little while. The stalker thing got me interested. I'm not fully enjoying it and if it wasn't that I get extra points in the Tower challenge, I would have put it down already.

Day 2 Discussion Questions
Chapters 10-14

5. What do you think are Joe's intentions with Benji? Is there any way you can see this ending well for Benji?

I find this whole cage thing very weird. Benji is way too calm for my liking. I don't know how this is going to end.

6. Joe asks Benji to write down his 5 favourite books, if you had to write a list of your five favourite books, what would they be?

I don't have a list of favourite books, I have favourite authors.

7. What is your impression of Beck through Joe's eyes? Do you sympathise with her situation with Benji? Can you see why Joe is so enthralled with her?
She is totally in love and very dependant on Benji. I don't find her very likeable, not sure why Joe is liking her so much. Maybe it's desiring the hard to get?

8. How do you think Beck feels about Joe? Do you think she genuinely likes him and it's only her feelings for Benji that are getting in the way of her progressing a relationship with him?
She is a bit of a user, I dont' think she really understands that he likes her more than him. I really didn't think it was nice how she treats him with Peach around

9. I am finding Beck's friendships with Lynne, Chana and Peach to be lacking any real warmth and often interactions amongst the girls seem a bit strained. What are your thoughts on Beck's friends, do you think they are genuine friends who only want the best for her?
Yeah, I find this part very poorly developed in the book. It feels incredibly fake

35559 is anyone else reading the BOM You (You, #1) by Caroline Kepnes ? I've finished the first 2 days worth of reading and I'm totally struggling. None of the characters are enjoyable.
