35559 I can take the letter L, I'm currently reading Deeply, Desperately (Lucy Valentine, #2) by Heather Webber - the main character's name is Lucy Valentine.

35559 Have a nice and relaxing vacation Greta!

Michelle - Really glad you enjoyed Still Life with Murder :) I loved the chemistry between the two main characters and each book gets better and better (unfortunately also shorter).

35559 So far all my books were good. I still enjoy and highly recommend Juliet Marillier, especially her Sevenwaters series and the stand alone Heart's Blood by Juliet Marillier .

I've started 2 new series and was pleasantly surprised by A Cold Day for Murder (The Kate Shugak Investigations) - it's a mystery series set in Alaska. We follow the investigations of the main character who is a member of the Aleut tribe and she's a tough one. Really liked the setting and descriptions given by the author.

The other series is a cozy/paranormal mystery series (Lucy Valentine), I'm currently reading the second book Deeply, Desperately.

Enjoy your break and time with your children NancyHelen!

35559 I agree with 1 or 8 but I think 1 will be the most difficult for me so my vote goes to 1.

35559 I'm sorry team for not checking in, with all the Wobbling currently going on, I completely forgot to check this thread. Let me find a decent computer and I will update with my book so we can proceed our journey :) (the app is not practical).

35559 For the 2nd event I will read Deeply, Desperately (320 pages)

For the 5th event - gather your horses: I will participate to the BOM discussion for Sorcerer to the Crown (Sorcerer Royal, #1) by Zen Cho (374 pages) which has an animal on the cover.

I have Would-Be Witch (Southern Witch #1) by Kimberly Frost (299 pages) for 'Race your Chariot in the Hippodrome' - it has 12 letters in the title. It can also work for 'animal on the cover'.

35559 Michelle wrote: "I have books that start with Murder that I can read after Audrey if she chooses A Cold Day for Murder."

Yes, I'm good for reading A Cold Day For Murder, it's also one of the shortest ones. I will go check the other events as well

@Louise: Congratulations for Wales, Louise, I'm disappointed but you deserved it, we're not able to win against them ;)

35559 Ok, then the shortest books I have are:

A Cold Day for Murder
Deeply, Desperately
Re-read of Sweep in Peace
Dragon's Bait
Would-Be Witch

If none of the books above work, I can still read Fire Touched

35559 @Michelle: I hope you will like Still Life With Murder as much as I did :) I devoured the Nell Sweeney series in a week this year, it was so good and loved the two main characters.

35559 If I understood correctly I'm in Heat 2 and I need to read a book that starts with the words ICE, HEAVEN or SWORD?
I will check my shelves to see what I have

Edit: At first glance I have no books that start with those words but plenty that end with those *sigh*
I have Fire Touched that start with 'fire' but doesn't give us lot of options for the next player. I will have to dig deeper

35559 Oh and btw Belgium won their match against Hungary and is qualified for the quarter finals :)! We will be playing against Wales.

Looking forward to the Olympics challenge. Since I'm a slow reader, I won't start anything new then

35559 Goodnight Mammoths, I'm finally home again! Had a lovely stay but had trouble coping with the heat in Bucharest (around 35°C = appr. 95 F). We are just not used to it.

Lisa - (Aussie Girl) wrote: "Did you see bran castle Audrey the tourist attraction home of Dracula., I arrived in Istanbul today , pretty tired after 25 hours travelling time but still managed to see one of the palaces and big..."

Yes, of course Lisa :D !! I was so glad we had the opportunity to visit Bran castle. Below are some pictures as promised :)
The castle was built for protection against the Ottoman Empire. Romanian colleagues told us that Vlad Tepes (= Vlad the Impaler) was known for his cruelty against his enemies (Ottomans mostly) and criminals. However Romanian folk don't really understand the fuss because they saw him as a good ruler and protector of his people. Only later Romania realised western Europe's view and perception of Vlad Tepes. Also Bram Stoker made the figure popular with his novel and this started a real tourist attraction.
(Sorry for the poor quality, I took the pictures with my phone)

(view spoiler)

We weren't that far away from each other. Hope you're enjoying your trip Lisa! Really excited for you about your next locations. Makes me think of the battle of Gallipoli. And Efeze seems lovely!

35559 Good evening Mellow Mammoths! I'm quickly checking in before heading out again with colleagues. I'm currently staying in Bucharest for work. And just came back from visiting Transylvania this weekend. I will post some pictures later :) Don't worry, I have been reading ;-), I will update everything on Tuesday when I'm back home and have access to decent internet connection. Doing great tram! Cheers!
