To celebrate its 20th Anniversary, the entire Adrien English series (with the exception of the Choose Your Own Adventure book) is currently in Kindle Unlimited.

Way to go, Colorado! I'm honestly amazed.

Oh, I love that!
I'm looking at these lists with envy--I just bought the Cat Sebastian book based on the continuing great recs!--I really want to make 2020 a reading year.
I watched a lot of HART TO HART while I was sick over the holidays. It's kind of mind numbing, but also soothing. Like mental cough syrup. :-D We watched all the Thin Man movies and a bunch of noir films we'd been saving up.
I watched a few documentaries including one on the Hatfield and McCoy feud, one on Alien and one on Galaxy Quest.

Happy New Year to each and every one of you. I wish you health and happiness in 2020. I have to admit the holidays were a little...off for me this year. Losing that week between Thanksgiving and December threw me, then getting sick--staying sick--and then the puppy. I don't know. I just couldn't quite get to the right mind set and then BOOM it was over.
We had snow again! The day after Christmas. It was so pretty and the puppy loved it (unlike Marlowe who hates for even the finest of sprinkler mist to hit him) :-D There were many nice, many lovely moments during the holidays, but I'm kind of glad they're over and I'm back to work. Although, if I'm honest, I'm still a bit tired and run down and not quite as energized as some years.
I'm trying though! Trying to get back to the mindset I had in October which was very positive and productive. And mindset is half the battle.

I'm glad they've moved ahead with other LGBTQ games. That's a good indicator at how well FS did. :-)

That was quite useful!

Even though I was sick in bed for days, I couldn't seem to concentrate enough to read.
I don't know if it's the best thing about today, but I was thinking this morning of how trusting little Spenser is. How willing to learn and love. Unlike Marlowe, he's never known anything but kindness and care. I'm so glad there are organizations like Halfway to Home that step in to save these animals and take care of them until they can be adopted. And, while the first couple of weeks were rough, I'm so glad I pushed this. He's adorable and we're figuring out a new normal that I think will eventually be even better than the old normal (though the SO and Marlowe are not completely convinced yet). :-D
You can't save everything and everyone, but at least you can do what you can do.
Wonderful lists!!!I'm trying to write with a puppy sleeping in my lap. He is still small enough and determined enough to want to nap IN my lap. If I try to bundle him next to me it's just not good enough. ON THE LAP, MOMMY. :-D
But here's my effort:
1 - A brand new bright and shiny year of endless possibilities
2 - Marlowe and Spenser finally playing together for real (and all day long). Marlowe has even begun allowing Spenser to cuddle next to him once in a while.
3 - Finally feeling better (physically and emotionally) and finally getting back up to speed
4 - Finding a new and really good Chinese restaurant locally! At last!
5 - It's staying light longer in the evening. Spring is coming...

Technically I still belong to RWA, but I quit participating or even paying attention years ago. I thought Nora Roberts spoke very much to the real point of all this--or at least confirmed my feeling, which was that RWA lost its way the moment it stopped being a service organization for writers and became instead a vehicle for certain author's personal ambitions.

Jordan wrote: "Just so you all know, Blind Side won the poll for our January BOM read, which means Orientation will be our February read!"And now let's flip that around since I just pushed Blind Side back to the end of January! :-D So we can read Orientation first and then Blind Side.

Jordan wrote: "I've debated before about getting a second dog for Adrien to bring her out of her shell a little bit, but the longer she's with me, the more I realize she probably wouldn't like that. She doesn't g..."I think you're right not to introduce another dog if Adrien is not particularly social. Marlowe IS social and wants to play and be chased by other dogs all the time, which was why I thought this might be a good plan.
And slowly he seems to be coming around. Once Spenser is bigger, I think they will play together--they both keep trying, but Spenser, for all his pugnaciousness, gets scared once Marlowe starts pouncing and chasing him.
And not having enough room would probably acerbate the problem for Adrien.
Let's see. Well, today I bit the bullet and faced the fact that between the puppy, the holidays, the Advent Calendar, the SO being sick AGAIN, me feeling like I might be starting to get sick AGAIN--and despite the recent Agnes incident--I've got to push Blind Side back a couple of weeks. I'm not burnt out, but trying to push through when I'm this tired and stressed will not make for the best possible book, and I don't want to end the series with a belly flop.
So it's a sickening feeling, but also it's a huge relief because it's just impossible to get a chunk of undisturbed time right now.
