:-D :-D :-D
It gives me a guide post to the future--and I need those little markers right now.
1 - CBD oil2 - Coloring books
3 - YouTube Beauty Bloggers (because it's so beautifully, relaxingly mindless to think about eye shadow application--even though we have nowhere to go and nothing to do where eye shadow would be needed)
4 - The Marlowe and Spenser Show (though I wish there was a way to reduce the volume)
5 - Experiments in cocktails. I believe I have at last perfected the Mai Tai.
Anyway, general news.Ahem.
From my previous comments, you get an idea of my mental and emotional state.
And yet, believe it or not, I am way calmer than I was, even sort of optimistic. Much of the time.
I'm starting to feel a bit more creative--I'm actually writing again, slowwwwwwwly, and thinking about characters and stories. I can't really commit to anything (except Bell, Book and Scandal in October, which seems safe enough HAHAHAHAHAAHA) because I still have unexpected and enervating bouts of depression, but hey! It's a start.
I try to remind myself of cheerful things like...about a third of the country supported Hitler right up to the end. So it's not just us. It can happen anywhere. In fact, it's kind of amazing that it took us this long to realize how much of our government relied on the honor system, on people of mostly good will doing what they thought was best for the country.
We aren't built to withstand a sociopathic megalomaniac.
So now we know.
Uh... But I was trying to give a cheery update. :-D :-D :-D
In conclusion, I'm afraid that we're doomed, but I'm trying to keep a good attitude. And I'm writing sporadically again. ;-)

I know. Same.
Not to mention ours was like a FUCKING WAR ZONE.
And I'm not exaggerating. Because we're in a high fire risk area, fireworks are banned, but this year fireworks were viewed as political protest and for something like THREE HOURS they never stopped. The air was full of the the scent of gun powder and the dogs were shivering messes (despite doses of CBD oil).
And for the next month our charming neighbors kept setting fireworks off at two and three in the morning. Because... WHY? I mean, aside from being infantile, antisocial assholes.

Oh, it's our own little monarchy-in-the-making. All the arrogance and none of the adorable hats or sense of public service.

Not at all.
However, as you can see, I'm always a couple of comments away from full-on rant now days. So I have started limited my news intake (for real) and I try to stay away from social media. I am not pleasant company these days.

And then, regardless of the outcome of the election, it will REALLY get dangerous for those next few months.
If Trump wins, we'll be lucky if he doesn't have Barr actually arrest his political opponents. If Biden wins, Trump as a lame duck president will be a raging lunatic capable of anything including an attempted coup.

The wonder is not that I'm having trouble writing fictional stories of mayhem and murder. The wonder is I'm not screaming in a padded cell somewhere.

No. We always had our problems, but this is nothing like the country I grew up in. This is... Well, I mean, I have to remind myself that the majority of the country is as horrified and outraged as I am. Hillary won by three million votes--but we have this little game called the Electoral College.
I truly don't know what's going to happen because they are doing every possible thing to sabotage this election. From all but destroying the post office to demanding states prepare for a pre-election rollout of a vaccine that has yet to be determined.
Mymymble wrote: "The Kenosha BLM shootings are so horrific it's hard to process. The contrast is unbearable in the videos between unarmed Jacob Blake, shot repeatedly in the back in front of his tiny kids, and Kyle..."I can't understand how people can watch this happen over and over and OVER again and refuse to admit that there is a terrible problem here.
Most of my extended family--MY OWN FATHER--are so obstinately, willfully blind.
It took Trump to show me how families could be ripped apart by civil war, how brothers could fight on opposite sides, wives work as spies against their husbands, etc.
I'm honest to God not sure what we'll do if Trump is reelected.

God yes. There is no such thing as a perfect human, let alone a perfect political candidate.

Oh! How exciting! I think this is actually kind of a great time to reevaluate, reinvent.
Or, as the Royal Princess says, FIND SOMETHING NEW. ;-P
But in all seriousness, with the world crumbling around us, there's never been a better time to figure out the rest of your life.

Paprika? That's interesting. I've never tried tacos with Paprika. I often add chopped black olives and diced green chilis in my taco meat. Maybe I'll test Paprika out in the next batch (tomorrow night)
