I think a lot of people feel the same, and I can understand it. :-D

At the moment BOTH my laptop and desktop are indicating a rapidly approaching Doomsday, so I read all that with interest and admiration. ;-D

5 - The Mills Brothers.
My parents had a Mills Bros record when I was a kid and I knew every song on it, but I'd forgotten all about them until the movie Don't Look Up. Now that I've rediscovered them, I'm listening to them constantly. :-)

Please feel free to say introduce yourself!

To make more room for advertising?
Okay, that's me being cynical. I have no idea why. I agree those were fun features for book fans.

Right? Also not a fan of the new layout.
And speaking of Amazon book pages. I noticed they're now running ads for things like VERIZON. Which is appalling, but then again, they're allowing us to add A+ content to our Amazon pages to dress them up a bit, so I guess I should just be grateful for that.

Oh I would hope so! You don't have to leave just because you're not running the bookclub!

I just wanted to take this time to let you know that I will be stepping down as BOM Captain at the end of the year. By my estimation, I've been BOM Captain for 11 years! (That's just..."
E-E-Eleven years!!!!???
I thought this group was like...five years old. LOL. WTH?!
I'll echo what everyone has said offline and what I said in email: Thank you doesn't begin to cover it. You've been a terrific BOM Captain and group moderator.
Unfortunately, unless someone else is eager to step into Jordan's (I was going to say "gigantic shoes," but that absolutely would convey the wrong image) role as superstar BOM Captain, I think we're going to have to phase out the Book of the Month group feature.
Despite my good intentions, I just can't seem to find the time to participate in the group reads, let alone lead them. Johanna can't possibly take on another thing (although knowing her, she would try).
Frankly, it's a lot of work--which Jordan made look easy, but which is not. It's time-consuming at the very least.
But if someone would like to don Jordan's mantle (and how can you resist after my sales pitch?) message me or Jordan and we'll try to talk you out of it. I'M KIDDING. Message me and/or Jordan and we'll see where we are!

LOL. I'M DETERMINED TO DO THAT VERY THING.

Death at the Deep Dive should be coming out on the 14th. Lament at Loon Landing will probably not come out until sometime in September. (I know that seems odd, but Book 6 is coming out before 7 won't make a huge difference to the series as a whole.)

Missus says we should call this pic “proof of life” and I should be holding a dated copy of the Hexham Courant.
Lovely friends, I can’t remember what I’ve told to which of you, so just a few words here, and I hope there’s no-one I should have contacted privately.
The last few weeks have kicked the living shit not just out of me but our little household, not to put too fine a point on it. There are times when all you can do is hang on. Please forgive my permanent tiredness for the brevity of this post but I’ve been missing contact with you all very much.
I’ll get the worst part out of the way. Most of you know we had a beautiful little tuxedo cat called Lucy. She died suddenly, for no reason we can tell (and we couldn’t bear to investigate) on June 17th. She was Jane’s particular little friend and familiar and all we’ve been able to do since is bear the unbearable as best we can.
Complicated reasons had led us to acquire a ball of ginger fluff called Bertie a few weeks beforehand. I was ill, though we’d yet to find out exactly what was going on except a bout of depression / bipolar crash. It was a bad time to get a kitten but he’s been a distraction, a joy and a cuddle-bun, and I’ll share some pics soon.
When I started having weird attacks of left-side weakness and a couple of truly embarrassing falls (the Goddess grants a well-padded arse to those who require it, and was not stingy with me in that department), I got referred for an ultrasound scan of my neck, my GP suspecting that narrowing of the carotid arteries there had caused me to have a minor stroke. He wasn’t wrong. That was a bit of a shock. Although there are no direct traces, my blood pressure is through the roof, and the one-sided weakness and subsequent depression make a TIA the most likely diagnosis. Although I can’t make any connection between my booster jab and this delightful experience, it did happen a few hours later. You know me; I’m obnoxiously pro-vax and would get my little prick again in the same circumstances, but the problems the coincidence gave us were that Missus and I both assumed I was having a reaction. The room was dimly lit so she wasn’t able to observe any facial drooping. I did drop my knife and fork, so yep, we’re likin’ the TIA for the perp. After that all poor Missus could do was hoist me off to bed and phone 111 (I was conscious, talking, and making a general fuss about wasting NHS resources on the 999).
I said I’d keep this short. The worst of this for me has been a complete evaporation not of the ability to write – after all, here I am bending all your Faces, Books and Ears – but the motivation to do so. That, or much else. Over the past few weeks I’ve tried various meds which my body won’t tolerate, spoken (much more helpfully) to an excellent NHS counsellor, and after I’m through my sessions with her, I’ve been recommended to Talking Changes, a resource for PTSD survivors. My counsellor had to spend a lot of time and energy convincing me that I was in any way worthy to be classed with the same syndrome as soldiers and survivors of other, much more dreadful experiences than mine, but – yeah, I’ve had stuff happen in my life that I wouldn’t want anyone else to go through, and I’ve dealt with it so far (well, it worked for nearly half a century!) by not dealing with it at all.
I have had nothing but love and support from the people to whom I “owe” writing. My Patrons, my publishers, poor Missus who is now reliant on a much smaller household income, but thank God for my backup gig. I can still do that, perhaps because the muscle memory is so deeply inlaid after 15 years, and no emotional engagement is required.
I have days when I long to see my friends. I have days when I can’t leave the house. My bipolar disorder has taken this opportunity to whisk me up and down through an astonishing range of moods, peaks and troughs. Can I ask you please, all you beautiful readers who have been my main reason for happy existence for the past decade, to send whatever vibes you have to get me into my creative groove again? Patrons, I’m sorry for the missed month – in fact I think it’s now two. I owe signed and dedicated books by the dozen and will be making it one of my first priorities to sort that. Dear friends awaiting replies to emails, forgive me. I am, very slowly, turning this around. Coven members, likewise, and it’s one of my dearest hopes that we’ll soon be celebrating the Turn of the Wheel once more, even if its latest Turn WAS right over my metaphorical foot. I'll be in touch with updates very soon.
I love you all. I know I’m lucky to be alive but I’ve learned that it’s perfectly okay not to appreciate the privilege EVERY damn minute of the day – yours always, Harper

I truly don't know what's up with Amazon. The book was cancelled nearly a month before it was due out, but it continued to show up in promotions, and the official note that it had been canceled didn't go out until it was practically due to have launched.
I'm aiming to have it out in mid-to-late July.
**MAKE THAT MID-TO-LATE AUGUST.
