YAY!!!!

THIS IS WHY WE CAN'T HAVE NICE RETURN POLICIES, PEOPLE!

Jordan wrote: "The dog I wanted from Spain, Olive, was finally adopted this week. Such an odd feeling about it, but I’m happy for her. I think she was there for almost three years!"That's a long time to wait for love and a home. So glad she was adopted.

Oops! Almost forgot 5!
5 - My kooky redecorated office. When it's finally finished, I'll post some photos. :-D It sort of looks like Sam Spade Meets Halloween.

We did a bit of a cupcake extravaganze for my birthday. It just seemed simpler--especially because one niece and nephew are gluten-intolerant. So we had a bunch of different cupcakes in all sizes and flavors. It was very fun and very decadent--and the extras were sent off to the SO's work because I have no will power when it comes to pretty cupcakes. ;-D

I wonder if I'll ever feel one hundred percent totally comfortable in crowded spaces again? I still love eating out, but there's just a little thread of unease weaving itself through every get-together.
Karen wrote: "Josh, you have a September birthday too?"I do! Yes. Well, Josh's official birthday is in January, but the woman behind the curtain's birthday was a few days ago. ;-D

That's good to hear. I only ever returned a couple of accidental purchases ("Wait, did I just click ..."
Until the SO began working at our local UPS Store, I had no clue. He's had people literally bring in their outside holiday decorations, still damp and grass stained, after the holiday ends. Swimsuits still smelling of cholorine. Mud covered shoes. Chewed pet toys. One lady brings in a large box of paperback books once a month to return to Amazon. She claims her daughter buys so many books, she can't keep track. EVERY SINGLE MONTH.
I mean, I like a bargain too, but come on.
I think in my entire life I've maybe returned three books. Not counting turning my text books in at the end of the college semester (is that still a thing?)

That's so true.

It IS a great day. The SO is buying me a new iphone for my birthday AND has agreed to use his grilling sorcery for our dinner. :-D
So glad you're having a super productive day!
Today the temperature is supposed to shoot back to 94 (98 tomorrow) and I'm trying to convince the SO to grill some lobster tails for dinner as a little bit of an End of Summer celebration. I've got a long day of writing ahead, but I was thinking a late afternoon swim, a few drinks, a nice meal and maybe the current two episodes of Recipes for Love and Murder...
He has to go to ATT this morning, however, and that has him in a highly UNcelebratory mood. :-P

Having a Coke with Youis even more fun than going to San Sebastian, Irún, Hendaye, Biarritz, Bayonne
or being sick to my stomach on the Travesera de Gracia in Barcelona
partly because in your orange shirt you look like a better happier St. Sebastian
partly because of my love for you, partly because of your love for yoghurt
partly because of the fluorescent orange tulips around the birches
partly because of the secrecy our smiles take on before people and statuary
it is hard to believe when I’m with you that there can be anything as still
as solemn as unpleasantly definitive as statuary when right in front of it
in the warm New York 4 o’clock light we are drifting back and forth
between each other like a tree breathing through its spectacles
and the portrait show seems to have no faces in it at all, just paint
you suddenly wonder why in the world anyone ever did them
I look
at you and I would rather look at you than all the portraits in the world
except possibly for the Polish Rider occasionally and anyway it’s in the Frick
which thank heavens you haven’t gone to yet so we can go together for the first time
and the fact that you move so beautifully more or less takes care of Futurism
just as at home I never think of the Nude Descending a Staircase or
at a rehearsal a single drawing of Leonardo or Michelangelo that used to wow me
and what good does all the research of the Impressionists do them
when they never got the right person to stand near the tree when the sun sank
or for that matter Marino Marini when he didn’t pick the rider as carefully
as the horse
it seems they were all cheated of some marvelous experience
which is not going to go wasted on me which is why I’m telling you about it

For museum curator Andrew Allison, the sleepy little Maine village of Safehaven has always lived up to its name—until now. Fleeing an abusive relationship, Andy has returned to Safehaven for a few weeks while he figures out the future and helps his elderly Uncle Cuthbert run his antiques shop. But when Andy arrives, he learns Uncle Cuthbert is in the hospital, critically injured, the victim of a late-night break-in.
Worse, one of the first messages on the shop’s answering machine is from Marcus, Andy’s ex, demanding to know Andy’s whereabouts.
Nor does the bad news stop there. It seems whoever broke into Time in a Bottle is still looking for that mysterious whatever. Something they didn’t find the first time. Something they now believe Andy has.
Something worth killing for?
The good news is former bad boy Quinn Rafferty, Andy’s high school crush, is back in town and interested in renewing their acquaintanceship.
Quinn is not a man to run from things that go bump in the night, be they mysterious midnight prowlers or a relationship-shy, fish-out-of-water museum curator.
But Quinn has a few secrets of his own…
