Spenser has the funniest deadpan expression. He always looks like an affronted High Court judge in a court of appeals. ;-D

I have to be honest, Cook had fallen off my radar a bit. It's exciting to see she's been so busy! Lots to dive into.
1 - Uninterrupted writing time (more rare than plutonium)2 - Firelight, flannel sheets, rain on the windows*
3 - Deep undisturbed sleep for hours and hours -- even the entire night!
4 - Delicate, creamy white sauces
5 - Spenser trying to outstare me

Oh! How very cool.
Antonella wrote: "Interesting article by K.J. Charles:What Is He Thinking? (or, how to make non POV characters show themselves)

Yes. Or even how to make POV characters show themselves. ;-) Because if there's one thing I love, it's a non-reliable narrator. Especially the narrator who is lying to himself.
Jordan wrote: "I’m surprised she didn’t tell you or didn’t just have you keep the dog while she was away. Many years ago I looked after my friend’s cat while she and her mother were away. They were afraid her fat..."It would have been hard to keep the dog--Spenser and Marlowe were extremely skeptical of his pedigree ;-)--but that was my plan once the father left on HIS trip because the idea of leaving the dog alone for days on end with only a walk to break it up was too much for me to take.
I don't know how that would have gone over with all in involved, but it's moot now.
Debbie wrote: "Checking my files yesterday, I discovered I bought this in an ARE sale and... haven't read it!"iT'S PRACTICALLY A NEW BOOK!
I had literally not thought about this book practically since publication. But going through it to reformat, it turns out it's funnier--and more poignant--than I remembered. I had such a vague recollection of it.
Ije the Devourer of Books wrote: "Happy birthday 🎂 Josh. I am so glad that you were able to clear things with your neighbour and that she knows the truth."Thanks so much, Ije. It's a great relief.
Jordan wrote: "Wow,Antonella, that a great arrest. Hopefully they can keep him and get info from him.Josh, Happy birthday! And phew! I’m glad that’s resolved. I can’t imagine watching that on video though. Trul..."
Thanks, Jordan!
Yes, I don't know that I could have handled watching the video, but I certainly would have wanted to know exactly what had happened. That was part of why I started to feel that she must blame us, because in her place I would have needed to know how these people I trusted could have let something like that happen.
It turns out, she did know. And, of course, as she said to the SO, "I know my father."
I wish we'd have known because we'd have been extra vigilant.

Wow!! That's so interesting!

:-D Perfect timing. Well, I've got it set up to on sale everywhere tomorrow. And I'm leaving the audio book at half price on Findaway's Author Direct.
Antonella wrote: "Josh wrote: "Thankfully, this resolved itself in an unexpected way. The SO saw her coming home, went over to speak to her, and she told him he didn't have to explain SHE HAD SEEN THE VIDEO."Wow, ..."
Isn't that crazy? I knew they had a video doorbell, but it never occurred to me that there might be a record of what had happened.

Well, the good thing is this is one of my lesser known works! I just got a new cover for it AND because it's self-published I can put it on sale for the month. I'll drop it down to $2.99 tomorrow.

Oh ho!!! That's great news!!!
SamSpayedPI wrote: "I finished The Thursday Murder Club and I highly recommend it (for a straight cozy). It's so funny and had me guessing until the end. I can't wait for the movie!"Oh! I have this on my Kindle somewhere!
