33903 Backstage Pass (Sinners on Tour, #1) by Olivia Cunning

Shelf: Available at Library
Finished: 4.24.17
Rating: ★★★★★

This one left me smiling so hard!!! It's awesome when two people who don't look like they'd be a good fit come together so well. It's also great when they can overcome their not-so-great pasts and see an awesome future together. It really warms my heart :)

One thing that really stood out for me was the fact that although Brian was all tatted up (which I do think is sexy to an extent) and looked like a thug, he was actually quite sensitive and sweet. It really drove home the point that one shouldn't judge a book by the cover. This has opened the door for lots of tatted hotties I may have otherwise passed over. (I'd still worry a bit about how my dad would look at him though...)

33903 Halfway to the Grave (Night Huntress, #1) by Jeaniene Frost

Shelf: Assassins
Finished: 4.17.17
Rating: ★★★★★

You know those books that people hype up, but when you read them you wonder where all the hype was? Well this isn't one of those. This was such an awesome read. I found myself cheering on Cat and Bones, and cussing out the bad guys. Those two were seriously made for each other. I love them together.

Even though I ultimately loved this book, I still thought the beginning was a bit... eh. I did some quick searching and it looks like this was actually Jeaniene Frost's first book. Which figures since the beginning certainly read like it, but she quickly found her stride and sucked me right in. When things really started to pick up, it felt like I was watching an action movie. I know I say that often, but I feel like it's a sign of excellent writing when the book just comes "alive".

Honestly, the only issue I had with this book was Bones' overuse of the word "blimey". The first few times, I thought it was cute, but after a while I kept thinking he needed a new word. ASAP. Other than that, I really enjoyed watching Cat come out of her shell... I also wanted to slap the crap out of her mom (smh). She got on my nerves FAST.

But enough of that. Cat and Bones... AMAZEBALLS!!! I need some time to come to terms with the ending, but believe it when I say book 2 will be on my literary menu in the near future.

33903 Breaking Up with Barrett (The English Brothers, #1) by Katy Regnery

Shelf: Series Finished
Finished: 4.13.17
Rating: ★★★★

With the first book in a series, solid groundwork must be laid for the remaining books to stand firmly on. This book did just that. The characters were nicely fleshed out and played big enough parts so that their personalities were revealed, prepping us for the other books.

Aside from that, it was also an incredibly sweet read. Barrett and Emily were practically made for each other. I love how he was so sure of himself and what he wanted. Unlike most romance novels where the guy spends most of the book learning how he feels about his love interest, Barrett knew from the moment he first saw Emily (I couldn't help but to "awww" at that point). I also love the fact that even though they weren't considered to be in the same class (financially speaking), he never let that stand in his way. (Insert "awww" here.) Oh! Let's not forget about the steamy bits! While I've read hotter, it was still steamy enough to make me salivate (just a little... no puddles were made lol).

So, if you're looking for a sweet and romantic read, this one's for you.
