32418 Becky: Read City of Ember and enjoyed it. I agree with you. It is more geared to the younger age, but it's a pretty good read. The movie, not that great.

Jenny: The Vault of Dreamers sounds promising. How is it?

Night Film by Marisha Pessl

It was an ok read 3/5 for me. The first half was a bit tedious but eventually it picked up. I feel like there were events in the book that weren't really pertinent to the main story and it just made the book unnecessarily long.

I didn't really get too close to the main characters, since you do invest much of your reading time in the mystery. Like I said previously, I feel like Pessl tried to include too many themes in her book: occult, voodoo, supernatural, etc.

For some reason the book reminded me of something Quentin Tarantino and Tim Burton would actually make. Not one or the other, more of them two working in collaboration.

32418 I'm a little bit more than half way through the book and its a weird book. I'm not really sure what to think of it yet. I feel like the author is trying to jam pack too many themes into one book.

For some reason tho. I keep thinking if this book became a movie it would need to be directed by a cross-between Tim Burton and Quentin Tarantino.

32418 I've been meaning to pick up Winner's Curse as well, since I've heard nothing but good things about it. Now tho, I'm a bit hesitant. booo...

ODA: glad that you like Rebel Belle, but like Heidi, I didn't enjoy that much either.

Shoes to Die For (A Jaine Austen Mystery, #4) by Laura Levine

I don't know what it is about this series that I'm really enjoying, but I won't complain. They're a light fun read. literally takes me just few hours to finish!

32418 I don't really use the app that much, but never got that problem yet, when I do use it

The Blood of Olympus (The Heroes of Olympus, #5) by Rick Riordan

Really loved the book. Especially the ending!
Apr 09, 2016 03:06PM

32418 I'll try that, Heidi. Sounds like it would be good.
Apr 06, 2016 07:30PM

32418 JENNY: Thanks. Thought it was a trilogy but then I saw the fourth. want to finish the series. Read the first but wanted all books to come out first.

I had the misfortune of picking up last night...
A Monster Calls by Patrick Ness

UGH! it was so good I couldn't put it down. Finished it in one sitting. Good thing it was a fast read! (Misfortune because I picked it up at night and didn't get to finish it till late into the night. Boo work!)

32418 JENNY: nice! still a reading machine even with a cold. Do you know how many books are in the White Rabbit Chronicles?

I just finished...
Ten by Gretchen McNeil

I just finished it. its good, interesting, but very cliched. A lot of people are a bit mad because they say its a rip-off of And Then There Were None, but I think its more of a re-telling. A very close re-telling.

I like the mystery enough, but the characters are not above and beyond. Writing is good, but, like I said, very cliche.

32418 Thanks, Dixie!
