32418 I really want a Mulan re-telling. It's one of my favorite Disney movies, and I think it will be cool if someone does a medieval re-telling of some sort. Doesn't need to be set in Asia, any re-telling would be cool.

32418 HEIDI: No need to apologize. I'm totally off my ball this year as well. It's really frustrating! I thought I was the only one not doing any reading and going on Goodreads is bumming me out, that's why I haven't been on lately. Sorry guys. I'll help you brainstorm for next Year, Heidi!

As for the September pick, looks interesting Oda. I'll see if I can find it at my library.

32418 Thanks for starting the thread, Oda. I've been MIA lately, sorry guys!

32418 If we don't have a pick for this month, we can skip it and lets start refreshed for September?

32418 JENNY: Tag you're it! Do you have your choice for next month? No rush, just giving you time to think ^_^

32418 BRIGID: I know how you feel. My slump is strong and steady since April. Nice to see you again tho!

Just finished reading...
Passenger (Passenger, #1) by Alexandra Bracken

I really enjoyed it. Can't wait to read the last book

Currently Reading...
The Lost Hero The Graphic Novel (The Heroes of Olympus The Graphic Novels, #1) by Rick Riordan

Saw that they're available on Overdrive so thought I should check it out. I recently read the companion graphic novel of Marissa Meyer, Wires and Nerve, centering on the story of Iko. Really enjoyed it and been wanting to read more graphic novels. So might as well try a story I previously enjoyed.

32418 This month's hidden gem pick is The Thirteenth Tale by Diane Setterfield.

32418 JENNY: Just picked up Passenger. So far so good. Not that far into it, but enjoying it.

VIDYA: You don't necessarily need to read The Hobbit to understand LOTR, but it doesn't hurt either. You get to understand how Bilbo acquired the ring. I haven't read the whole of LOTR too, but it I heard it takes awhile to get into the book, especially the first one.

32418 Let's Discuss Graffiti Moon. This is one of my few 5 Stars that I've read and one of the fewer contemporary romance that I enjoyed.

32418 Sorry, forgot that June is my month.

I would have to pick...
Graffiti Moon by Cath Crowley

I just realized a lot of people on this group hasn't read this book and its definitely a must read. It was one of my 5 stars in 2015.

Heidi and Brigid: I know you guys have read this, maybe you can catch up on more hidden gem books.

Everything, Everything by Nicola Yoon

Not that far into the book but I want to see what all the hype is about

32418 I just don't think anyone would actually actively seek out outsiders to kill. I think that was just a little extreme. I understand that people will fight for food, technically I would fight anyone for food if I have to feed my family. But with this author it seems that he set the tone that the Islanders were only cornering the tourists.

I definitely would have enjoyed this book a lot more if he tamed down the outsider issue. I really didn't feel that it was pertinent to the story line, especially the way he directed the main story arc.

I enjoyed the fact that it was set in Hawai'i and we got to see a lot more of the culture. Plus, the father and daughter team was a good change.

Sorry Jenny, I know you enjoyed it, and I understand why you enjoyed it. I guess this one is just not for me. I do kinda want to see what happens to the Leilani and her family, So I'm a bit torn.

32418 Welcome Elia!

32418 Just finished this book, I enjoyed that it took place in Hawai'i and we get to learn more about their gods and goddesses. My biggest problem is their portration of the Hawai'ian and Filipino people. The author made them look like savages and racist. It wasn't a very attractive picture that the author set-up. I'm not really sure if it was just me since nobody else saw the problem or I'm just being sensitive. Either way it did affect my rating.

32418 I just started it, and I'm actually enjoying it. I like post apocalyptic books. This almost reminds me of another book that I read so long ago, but it has the same feel to it.

32418 Definitely my #1 will be Fred and George Weasley (view spoiler)

Howie from The Jasper Dent Trilogy
Iko from the Lunar Chronicles
Leo from the Heroes of Olympus Series

I'm blanking out on the last one. Will add later..
