3113 With this beauricratic expansion package I thought Obama might throw a curve ball and veto it... but now I hear he is going to sign it in Denver... denver really? I just don't see any feasible way for this to end well. The hole thing is like a sprung shot gun barrel. The shot is scattered all over the place, too dispersed to kill or injure anything, just pissing it off a whole lot. Just what we need an angry bleeding economy monster storming around the country side eating small children and sharpening it's claws on the elderly.

3113 American recovery and reinvestment act of 2009:
“Making supplemental appropriations for job preservation and creation, infrastructure investment, energy efficiency and science, assistance to the unemployed, and state and local fiscal stabilization, for the fiscal year ending Sept. 30, 2009 and for other purposes.” End quote.

Department of:

Veteran’s affairs; 1,000,000 LABOR; 6,000,000 Agriculture; 22,500,000 Commerce; 10,000,000 Defense; 15,000,000 Education; 14,000,000
Energy; 15,000,000 Health and human services; 19,000,000
Homeland security; 2,000,000 Housing and urban development; 15,000,000 Interior; 15,000,000 Justice; 2,000,000 Transportation; 20,000,000 EPA; 20,000,000 General services Administration; 15,000,000

The kick in the ass… this isn’t even for anything tangible the above moneys are going to offices that all ready exist to do the jobs they are already doing…? WTF Donald duck. And why such an unbalance in the appropriations of funds? Is there anyone in this country that thinks the VA runs smoothly? Is that 15 million to the DOD going to create a job?

Sorry folks I just don’t understand why everyone is silent on this (Not just here on GR but everywhere, sure a few talking heads are bobbling about it but come on this is huge, deceitful, and complete bullshit.

There is 18.7 billion earmarked for sub prime loan insurance. Isn’t that how this snow ball started?

2.8 billion to bring wifi to rural areas (only if the project can be completed with the funds provided, and “provided further” (a term used a lot in the bill) that the area receiving moneys has less then 75% broadband access. I think this is an issue for private companies not the government.

There is a little silver lining in here, for folks with children that loose their jobs, 154.5 million per year (09’ and 10’) for after school feeding program for “at-risk” children. I think it is telling that they believe so much money will be needed; things are going to get bad.

For the most part this “stimulus package” doesn’t seem to address issues, or focus on anything, it is too scattered to have any meaningful affect. IMO

just something to keep an eye on in the coming weeks.

3113 Why are either one of those included in a "economic stimulus" package? It seems to me that this is nothing more then a standard appropriations bill.

I made the mistake of printing it out... glad I am at work I would have hated to pay for the ink, 258 pages.
3113 Oh... so nothing testicals would be interested in watching ;)

3113 Dollhouse? Is that like a PG version of cathouse?
3113 Those crazy Europeans... heh! Everyone knows malls are where one spends money they don't have.
3113 p.s. thanks for the explanation.
3113 MM, I thought that was called a broadway... the grass between two streets. How about that hawaiian bread. I like that, I think it makes everything taste a little better. Is shit bitter? I will admit I haven't willingly eaten many shit sandwiches in my day.
3113 he is a question that will probably make me sound really really stupid but... I never understood why they called it the mall. It's not as if there are wall to wall stores wedged in between our government buildings displaying our capitalist nature.
3113 is that shit sandwich made on rye?

3113 Stats are good. I don't have any myself, but the impression I get from news outlets is that a large portion of CA prisoners are illegals. But considering the source I am open to accepting that as false if anyone has real numbers.
3113 There was a cheesy move out not to long ago; where it showcased the idea that each president passed on a presidential secret book. I know it was fluff but wouldn't it be fucking sweet to get ahold of that book and read everything that has happened every secret order given, every Roswell, area 51, the final solution... eh oop's wrong country... or is it }:-I I'm sure reading that book would age you a bit.

3113 <<"Overcrowding is the primary cause of the unconstitutional conditions that have been found to exist in the California prisons," the court concluded.">>

If one is imprisoned they should have nothing more then a bed. toilet, and 2 meals a day. I often consider going to prison for a vacation, get my teeth worked on, catch up on my vaccinations and all that.

Perhaps if we didn't pamper our criminals we could afford to house more of them. Then again if Cali deported it's illegal criminal's they probably wouldn't be talking about turning "up to %40" out on the streets.

IMO, kill the child molesters, violent rapists, murderers, repeated violent offenders, deport or send bills to illegal aliens country of origin... yeah I know I'm crazy.

3113 Well perhaps the should have thought about a better way to execute that then, lame.

3113 UGH! Charrisa!

I say none. That was an over rated piece of crap. it had its moments and I really wanted to like it (because of Catherine Keener) But in the end it was lame. How many misunderstood gangster student movies do we have to sit through? Then the cliche gay drama student. It was just sloppy and tiered; with over used plot devices.
3113 The point being the global doom crowd spins information into something it is not. 3k is not 10k, and there are more then 10k as well. As per the wording of your previous post you were implying that "all" earth scientists agreed global climate change was man made. The truth is pretty far from all.

There are currently 3 separate groups of researches working in my immediate area, at toolic lake, Galbraith Lake, and Franklin Bluffs. I find it interesting that 2 of these groups are of the doom and gloom crown, coming out with fantasy conclusions, until the 3rd group shuts them down with real research, with real conclusions.

Example: Report released by the Toolic Lake artic wildlife research center; Oil field impact on local wildlife.

In their report they claimed that oil field production was determined to be the cause of the rapidly declining arctic ground squirrel populations north of the artic circle.

Their "proof"; the have aggressively tagged and tracked ground squirrels in the area for 4 years, Their data clearly shows an average 9% decline in squirrels gathered and tagged each consecutive year.
Their stated cause: Oil field workers kill the squirrels when driving the Haul rd, killing females, this has a huge impact because the females are no longer having two litters a season, couple that with predatory animals in the region use the squirrels as a primary source of protein...

What they don't say: The toolic lake artic wildlife research group catches tags and releases the males, the females however are detained for another research project. So if they are "aggressively" trapping Squirrels and keeping the females that normally birth two litters a summer what do you suppose might be an unintended result?

The toolic lake and Franklin bluffs research groups are always fighting about data they collect. When they come on our station for Sunday dinner it is always amusing, we usually shut off the TV and listen to them go back and forth about this that or the other.

3113 so there are only 3,146 climate scientist? doubt is swelling up dude. I mean after all the survey invitation went out to 10,257 and that's from your link of "evidence". Not very convincing duder. I think you have been drinking from the same cup of kool aid as Lisa... No offence intended, normally I think quiet highly of you, so sorry for grouping you in with her.
3113 Dave#75: That link doesn’t really say anything of value; because a bunch of quacks that do not apply the scientific method to their research agree that they are right is not a motivator for me to believe them. Also you are misleading in saying that 97% of scientist agrees... don't you think: What it really says is 97% of active climate scientists who are active publishers agree... it is not the same as 97% of scientists agree. And again it says nothing of "ALL" scientists that “97%” represents a survey of 3146. So there are only 3,146 scientists in the world.

Be careful of where you step, the bullshit seems to be piling up pretty deep in this thread.
