good point, Nick. There are all kinds of things you really can't stop people from doing in the privacy of their own homes. But when it comes to public health issues, or public safety issues... well... you have to at least make an effort to deter some of them. Don't you think?

The ad says that they care less about looks than they do about personal charisma. Probably you have to be reasonably able bodied and somewhat athletic though. Sounds like they want you to really be an adventurer. Back in the day I could have pulled that off... but not lately. I have to say that I'm glad the funeral services are behind me. What a perfectly awkward and difficult weekend. Can I also say that there is no good reason to stuff people and stick them out in an open casket for people to see? There is truly nothing more horrifying than looking at the embalmed corpse of someone you knew. It's like they've been turned into a shiny hunk of wood. It's gross. Why do people do this???

My relatives have been warned that if anyone does that to me I will haunt them forever. Please, cremation. Or, at the very least, a plain pine box all shut up tight.

Also... there is nothing you can say to the children of a man who died too young that is adequate or appropriate. I hope to never be in this situation again. However, I suspect that the universe will not comply with my wishes. Death is a whore that way.

natural doesn't necessarily mean good... and besides... everything is made from something natural. nothing exists in the universe that is unnatural. it's impossible. I certainly don't want to eat something with a "natural" Plague virus in it. Or a "natural" sprinkling of uranium in it.

that being said... I don't think I want something chemically altered to be red in my food either. Maybe food doesn't have to be red... there's a concept.
