Anya's tears just seemed to come harder. Ryan was at a loss. His heart was broken too but he had to be strong and bring justice to his best friend.
Samantha started to follow but stopped. It wasn't her business and if Anya wanted her to know she would tell her later. God, she wished David would hurry up and get here.
The music stopped and Ryan listened to the sound of footsteps coming to the door. Then they stopped and he heard whispering but couldn't make out the words.
Ryan stopped when he realized Anya wasn't alone. He could make out the figure of someone hidden in one of the dark corners.
An author can make me love just about anyone if written correctly. But I tend to like the dark mysteriously brooding men more. I love a scottish or british accent but I really love those western cowboys. Cajuns are cool too Lucky's Lady ☺ Love that Lucky. I absolutely love those military men. Also cops and bodyguards and FBI and PIs. Those men to serve and protect in their own way.
He watched as a medium sized dog approached. It's tail wagging furiously. Ryan noticed blood on the leg of the dog.

my comforts are one of my oldies. Something by Kathleen Woodiwiss or Johanna Lindsey or Jude Deveraux. Or I'll read Linda Howard or Julie Garwood.
Maggie Osborne has a few that I love - Silver Lining and The Promise of Jenny Jones are 2 of my faves.Catherine Anderson is good. More emotional, though and Not too many laughs.
Jodi Thomas is good too. Not quite as emotional as Catherine Anderson and I think she has a bit of humor at times.
Johanna Lindsey has written a couple I like.
Julie Garwood's For the Roses is a fave of mine.
I love nerds. One of my faves is McGee on NCIS. Have a soft spot for Spencer on Criminal Minds too. I haven't seen most of the shows already mentioned. I am missing out apparently.

The historicals are my fave but I can tolerant the RS Garwoods when I'm in the mood for it. I just have to forget its the same person writing them.
To me romance is the extra lengths a hero or heroine goes to show their love. It may be a sacrifice they make or a grand gesture or even something simple like being there with a shoulder to cry on or a hand to hold on to. Got to give some thought on which ones I'd call the most romantic but Lisa Kleypas has some really romantic Awwww moments in many of her novels.
