That's what's interesting about the show. It's hard to really root for anyone. I do think Viola Davis is really fantastic on the show. I haven't figured out if she's just really manipulative, or just really damaged.

It is. So crazy. On another level from Scandal and that's saying something.

We certainly can if you want. :)

I've been rewatching (watching) Prison Break on Netflix. I forgot how completely fine Wentworth Miller is. :)
Long live Netflix!

I'm going to start working on yearly challenges in the next few weeks, so I'd love some input if you have ideas for them. To try to keep things interesting.
I was thinking about a Library of Congress/Dewey Decimal type challenge.
Any thoughts?
Of course, I will do the Mega-Challenge again. Have to! :)

I love more BBC shows than I don't like, honestly.

Wow! That wouldn't work for me at all! Esp. the hero having sex with other women.

I had a lot of respect for Verity. I think her choices were reasonable for her situation. I personally hate the idea of prostitution, but I don't judge a person who has to make those choices. I think I'm harder on people who pay for sex/help to engineer that situation.
I feel that Kylemore was in love with Verity very early on, but was working within the system he had available to be with her. I feel that it is telling that he asked her to marry him, because that wasn't something that a duke ever did with his mistress (well it's probably happened a few times, but not very often).
I agree with you, Natalie. I do think that there was more equity in their personal dynamic as the story went on.

The one rule is:
Show respect for others, including the author. We can agree to disagree and we don't have to have the same opinions. The fun is the talking about them in a cordial way.

DHASG November Challenge
Introduction: It's hard to believe that this year is almost over. November is the second to last month of the year, and the start of the Holiday season, with Thanksgiving this month. On the DHASG, we're thankful for everyone's participation on this group and in the book challenges. What are you thankful for? Take the time to think about that. Let's hope you can give thanks for great reading this month.
Rules:
1. Any member of the DHSAG can sign up for the challenge throughout the month November.
2. All books must be read between November 1st and November 30th.
3. A book may only be used once in the challenge.
4. Post or link to your final stats when you are completed.
5. In your stats, list book name, title and date read. Unless obvious, include why you choose a certain book in parenthesis in your stats.
Level:
1. Not Quite a Dozen: Read 9-11 books.
2. It Goes to Eleven: Read 6-8 books.
3. Eleventh Hour!: Read 3-5 books.
Categories:
1. Give Thanks!: In honor of Thanksgiving on November 27th, let's read a book that celebrates the concept of giving thanks in some way. It's up to you!
2. What's on the Menu?: Since we love to eat for Thanksgiving read a book that involves food. The lead character could be a cook, chef, baker, or just a foodie. Or maybe they are celebrating a food-related holiday or event.
3. Family by Choice: National Adoption Day is the Saturday before Thanksgiving, November 21st. For that day, let's read a book featuring a character who's adopted or a story involving adoption.
4. Men Make Dinner Day: Pass it on to the men in your life, it's all them on the first Thursday in November. For this challenge, read a book where the Man does the cooking!
5. Housewife Day: November 3rd celebrates the unsung heroes of the past and present, the "housewife" or "stay at home wife/mother". Read a book that has a lead female character who is a housewife. It can be historical or contemporary.
6.Sadie Hawkins' Day: Modern women often do the asking, but on November 13th, you're expected to do it. Read a book where the heroine does the chasing instead of the hero.
7.Forget-Me-Not: November 10th is Forget-Me-Not Day, a day to remember all our loved ones, especially when they live far away or have passed on. For this challenge, read a book where the lead characters/main couple are physically separated for part of the book.
8. A Bad Day!: For Have a Bad Day, please don't wish that on anyone, but feel free to read a book where the lead character has "A Bad Day."
9.Black Friday: The day after Thanksgiving is the biggest shopping day of the year. I don't encourage you to go shopping that day, but you can. Instead, it might be more fun to stay home and read a book. So we'll give you credit for whatever book you finish reading on Black Friday this year (November 28th).
10. Journeys: There are two holidays this month that celebrate traveling, Take a Hike Day and Go For a Ride Day. So let's read a book where the characters take a journey, or go on a trip or hike.
11. Cornucopia: The cornucopia or horn of plenty is the symbol for Thanksgiving. Reach in to your Book "Horn of Plenty" and read any book you want for this part of the challenge.
